14km Fun Run

I completed the Perth HBF 14k fun run today. WOW! A great event with a supportive crowd...some organisational mishaps, particularly trains running 20 minutes behind and buses not being efficient enough to take us all to the event...
but over all a great event!

I was hoping to run the majority of the run....it was a reasonably flat course, and whilst I hadn't ran over 5km this year, last week I went on an 11km run with hills, and only had to walk a very short time due to sand, and had to stop twice for a stretch...so was hoping to run most...maybe 12km...

Well, sometimes you can just surprise yourself when you push yourself! I ran the whole 14km and the last 300m I really ran...I would say sprint...but others would say slightly faster then a shuffle! But my shuffle over took about 10 people, so I was really happy!

My knees absolutely killed...still do. I think I have well and truly done over the kms my shoes should do! New shoes on the horizon!
some deep heat before bed tonight.
And need to stay warm...it is getting cold lately and my muscles are feeling it! So must stay warm!

I got a little bit of chaffing  right up the top of my inner thigh where the seam to my skins were. never had that happen before. I so hope the redness is gone by tomorrow! I have bootcamp!

I don't have my official time as yet but I came in under 1 hour 40 and I think I am expecting a time around 1 hour 33mins. I am really happy with coming in under 1 hour 40mins. It shows that whilst I haven't bee training like I was, I am still fit. I have picked up my fitness to what it was, and I can do it!

I haven't weighed myself for a week, but I am pretty sure I am staying around 82kg...looking forward to heading back down to the 70s!!!

For now...rest, relax, recover!!!

A New Start

Bootcamp. I thought I would be dead after it. I thought I would be dead during it. Especially when my fitness has dropped off so much...trying to exercise on your own is very similar to trying to follow an eating program on your own. Nobody there to challenge you, push you, be accountable to. It is hard. It is easy to say "I'm too tired, too cold, too cosy, too busy, too busy watching tv, too I can't be bothered (yes we even admit it to ourselves when we know we should!) too it is too dark outside, too late, too early, too windy, too...." gee think of the excuse and without a partner or a group to push me, I will come up with an excuse!
In saying that, I always manage to get out and do a run/walk at least twice a week...but a lot different to what I used to do!
So in comes Boot camp!
It was pretty easy. I put this down to a few things...
1. whilst I am unfit, there are people who are more so then me and the majority of the group of 20 were in that group, not my group!
2. The trainer didn't know me, didn't know how much to push me...and without being pushed, i wont push myself! No...i did push myself against the girl who was probably fitter me...i kept up with all running with her, and everything, but then, can i do more then that?
3. It was the first session he was going easy on us??!
Whilst bootcamp was easy...when I woke up last tuesday morning, ouch. i was sore! Wednesday I was still sore!!! I hadn't used my arm muscles in a long time, even my tummy muscles had been been limited to exercise. So I obviously got a work out!

So doing bootcamp did kick me into gear. I enjoyed it, and I went out did my own exercise during the week. I ran my 2.5km route and equalled my best time of 11m:28s. I walked/jogged the dog twice. And yesterday I did an 11km run, with hills! My legs hurt afterwards...my knees...I am getting old! Or trying to exercise when I was fat really did some damage! I would say that is it! I have a 14km fun run on sunday, the first one for the year for me...that is pretty slack of me...I have missed 4 fun runs already.

so bootcamp was the burst I needed. the new start. the kicking me into gear to do more exercise. And best of all, doing the exercise is making me watch my food intake. I don't want to eat too much/eat crap/drink lots if I am doing all this work exercising. what a waste it would be. So it is working! I am not counting points, but i have been very conscious of what I am eating.

After putting on 6kg in 5 weeks, I lost 1kg this week. So 5 to go to get back to my lightest...and 3 more to go to get back into the 70s. damn i never thought I would go back in the 80s!

Another thing I am looking forward to is boxing. I got a scoopoun for $19 for a 10 week boxing circuit program. $1.90 a session. I got 2 lots, one for me and one for my hubby. I cannot wait! It sounds harder then bootcamp!

I am also starting netball again next week. New team as we have moved...it is 5 a side and mixed and it is HARD. I will be playing mainly Centre so I am wrapped. fitness will be back to where it was! :)

I am also going to start incorporating our build into my blog. We are still waiting for titles on our land, but it is coming along and I will have photos and other stuff!

:) New start going well :)

I Have Been BAD!

No wonder I am feeling fat...I am eating. Eating a lot. Eating junk. Eating chocolate. One day last week I ate a whole block of chocolate. Not a bar, a whole block. Why?
I so wish I knew the answer to that!

I have to get my mouth back into gear! :)
I am getting my arse into gear, so now it is my mouths turn!

Why am I doing this to myself?
All my jeans are showing a terrible muffin top. I just got a pair of jeans from EBAY in a size and brand I KNOW fit me, and they don't...
Come on girl...get back on track. Period is over now, bloating is gone. What is my excuse now?

FOOD and UNENTHUSIASM.

Going for a run tonight and having tofu stirfry tonight. I am not waiting until tomorrow to get my mouth and butt into gear, it starts TODAY!

I feel really FAT!

After weighing over 100kg for way too many years then I should have, and never being considered thin, as a child or an adult...I have always felt FAT!
Getting down to 78kg, I never thought I would feel fat again. I am not at goal, but I wouldn't feel fat.
Well, I have gained 4kg since I last blogged (and that wasn't that long ago) and boy do I feel FAT!
Some of it is because I just got back from Bali...last time I gained 5kg in bali, and lost 5 kg the following week.
Part of it is having my period and it is late due to skipping the sugar round so I wouldn't have my period whilst on holidays. I am about 2 weeks over due so I am over bloated from that.

But mainly, I have put on weight because I have increased my alcohol intake, my chocolate intake, my food intake. I have decreased my exercise (a lot due to Bali and just getting back and being OVER tired). I FEEL FAT! I can feel it in my belly. I can see it on my muffin top that I got when I tried on all 3 pair of jeans. They are all too tight!
I can feel it in my boobs. My newly fitted bras that fit PERFECT are digging in.

I have put on weight. It isn't just bloating.
And I feel FAT!

So what to do???
I said if I didn't get to goal by the end of this month I was quitting WW and joining a gym or something to get me motivated again.
So I quit WW a couple of days ago (they have said it wont take affect until May) and in May I am starting a 10week bootcamp. I can't wait! The trainer is an ex military guy, 25 years drilling 60 squadron.

I also got the tracking book out and tracked yesterday and today. Last time I tracked I lost 1kg and got to 78kg...I stopped the week I was going to Bali and the week of Bali, and now I must do it again. It doesn't matter that I have quit WW...I can still track.

I also got on the treadmill. I like running outside, I wanted to run outside, but i had things to do, had to wait around for the landlord and then it was just too hot (it was midday) to run outside. So on the treadmill for 5km today...jogged 4km and walked 1km. Was hard, my legs went to jelly. I have only exercised once in the past two weeks! But if I am going to survive bootcamp, i must get my butt into gear. I also need to start some serious training for fun runs. I haven't signed up for any yet. I must I must I must. They really motivated me last year, so I should do it now! I also want to do a half marathon this year, so I REALLY need to do some warm up events! I struggled with 4km today, how will I do 21.5km???

Hopefully the change will help me refocus. A change is needed, a drastic change. I can do it!
I will do it!!!

1kg down :)

Well, after doubting all my hard work, I had a great 1kg loss at weigh in today! Very happy with it!
And it meant I went out to Hillary's Boat harbour and tried on loads of bathers and bought a tankini. It is brown and yellow and gold, very bumble bee-ish, with brown bottoms. Has a halther neck, and whilst a little sexy around the bust, still should hold me in for the rides at waterbom park!

I was also a little naughty. I had lunch with a friend, had seafood platter to share, arancini balls and lamb salad (all tapas like food) as well as two sparklings. Then went to this chocolate place...yes totally asking for trouble...for coffee...and cake. What cake did I choose (to share of course!)...the one that said "Big Fat Chocolate Cake"...served with a tub of melted milk chocolate. Oh was it unbelievably delicious! Couldn't have eaten it by myself! Way too decadent!

Had a salmon, prawn and chilli mussel salad tonight, something light...but still stuffed from lunch so really didn't need to eat at all! Took dog for a walk, but not enough exercise!

I have to work hard over the next few days just to work off today! I want another loss next week. 2 weeks in a row would be GREAT! And every loss now, no matter how big or small, I am rewarding myself. Now I just have to think of next weeks reward...
A book to take to Bali with me. Now what book?????

On track

I have been tracking this week. I have actually tracked. first time in about 6 weeks.
I am finding it hard to stick to 29 pro points. I have eaten most of my 49 points...but then, today is my last day for the week, so i guess I am allowed.
Weighed today (just at home) and i have lost 100g. hmmm...all i want to do is lose, so i guess if i weigh exactly the same at weigh in tomorrow, that is good...however, i had no shoes on whereas weigh in i will have shoes so that is 200-400g on top of current weight.
And if i have stuck to my propoints, why have I not lost more weight?
Yes i have weighed my food/portion sizes. I have not over estimated my exercise, or underestimated my points for food.
I have written down ALL food I have put in my mouth. I have not cheated! I cheated my way through 6 weeks, I am sticking to the program this month...I need to get my moneys worth!

But I am not letting this hiccup stop me. I went for a run this morning...ran to a local park, had a 5m? hill in the middle of it so did 10 sprints up the hill and slow down, went tree to tree running with squats at each tree, did some step ups on the wall of the playground as well as push-ups and tri-cep dips, then continued my run around the suburbs! Was out for 40minutes and it was really nice. The weather is perfect today, there was a slight breeze cooling me down, the sun wasn't blaring and not a lot of people out and about on the long weekend Monday, so the streets were mine!

Had a good variety for breakfast today...before my run I had a banana...then when i came home i had one piece of fruit and muesli toast (berger bread i think is the brand and it is YUM and filling!) as well as some uncle toby's womens cereal (half the regular serve) plus 100g of nestle yoghurt and some frozen berries. Add my coffee and I am full and ready to take DD to a playground somewhere so she can get her exercise for the day! :)

Will be making sure I don't exceed my 29 points. No more bonus points left so will stick to 29 points, take dog for a walk this evening, and hope that my weight can get under 79kg again. I did a good job this week...i did a GREAT job this week...I deserve a good loss...I deserve a loss. 78.x....please!!! :)

To quit or not to quit...

I almost quit Weight Watchers yesterday. Went to the quit page online, read over the conditions...and almost quit.
But I didn't. I thought  I would make up my mind AFTER weigh in.

I weighed in, the first time in 3 weeks (1st week missed i went for a run, 2nd week missed my car broke down...so only one was by choice). Last weigh in I gained 700g, this week 400g. So over about 6 weeks i have gained 1.1kg.

That isn't bad considering I have eaten chocolate bullets like they are going out of fashion! I have eaten, had drinks, not weighed food, not portion controlled, not tracked, not cared.
Since moving I have not done my Step Into Life training, so I am just doing my own thing...which generally I do...but I don't push myself as much as I do with a group, or a trainer.

So eating more, training with less intensity (not that it is easy, but it isn't as hard as it was!).

So why quit?
I will do EITHER WW or a training thing. Husband has won and I need to make the choice. When weight watchers isn't working...what is the point in doing that? It is a waste of money. I miss training with people. I want to train with people. I want to be pushed again. So it makes sense to spend money on training. Afterall, I know what food to eat, I can track etc without paying for it, can't i??!

But I didn't quit. I am giving myself one more month.

I am not losing weight because I am not tracking. not caring. It isn't that I am not trying...I am still making good choices over bad ones when I choose to...but i am not weighing portion sizes, I am not tracking. Enough said I guess. How can I lose weight when I am not calculating my energy in vs energy out?

So my thing this month.

Simple

FOLLOW THE PROGRAM.

I have 2.1kg to get to goal. 5 weeks to do it. If I follow the program, and I mean FOLLOW IT and I still can't get to goal, then I will quit and focus on my exercise. But I MUST follow the program. If i don't follow the program, I will still quit as there is NO point in continuing the program if I am not going to do it!

If I DO get to goal, I will not quit, I will maintain for 6 weeks and get my lifetime membership...then it will be free anyway and I can then join my training group.

I currently weigh 79.1kg.
2.1kg to go.

Bring on 77kg.

I CAN DO IT!
