Away a few days

Well, I am off to Bali this afternoon.
Still sick. Slept for 3 hours this morning, after I dropped my daughter off at daycare. I think I could sleep another 3hours now. But the coughing and sneezing have subsided.
so hopefully tomorrow I can spend the day by the pool relaxing and Friday will have energy to go walking and sight seeing.

I am so looking forward to going. I haven't been in 11 years. Bali is the reason I got into teaching. All I ever wanted to do was teach in Bali. Help those kids have a better life. Help those kids become someone. Then I went to Kalgoorlie, and realised that help had to start in our own backyard. I had to teach our kids here become someone. One day I would teach in Bali...once I had solved all of Australia's educational problems LOL!
I don't think I will teach in Bali, but it still made me the teacher I am today. And to go back, back to the place that started my life...I cannot wait!

I have 3 really good friends over there. 3 people I lost touch with not long before the bombings in 2002. I wanted to call them, find out how they were. I knew they wouldn't be messed up in the bombings, but I was so concerned about their jobs, their livelihoods. I wrote a letter to two of them. never heard anything back. I am going to return to the hotels where they used to work, and hope they are still there. It is a long shot, but you never know!!!

I am grateful to be getting away from the heatwave of WA...for once Bali might be cooler! Am going to miss my little girl like crazy...she is going to be getting up to all sorts of fun and games with her Oma. I will take this opportunity to just hang and forget about everything...work, diets..bond with my husband again, and of course while not sticking to WW, I will track, but not religiously, and I will go over points, but will be mindful of just how much I go over, and will have my pedometer and walking heaps and going to the hotel gym.
I am going to enjoy!

Hope everyone here can enjoy too!
Good luck with weigh ins. Good luck with food and exercise goals.
Good luck with achieving that one little thing in your life you really want to achieve!

Weigh IN

Got to my 15kg goal! Yippee! needed 700g, and lost 900g!

Happy happy joy joy! I am so happy! Getting to a weight in a designated time is not what i have been about, but I really wanted to be 15kg lighter when i went to bali and I got it!

Shortest post EVER from me...but that is all I wanted to say!

Oh...and one of the ladies at WW said, "look how baggy your jeans are, you need a new pair!"...of course she was talking about my new pair! oh it is all so good! :)

pneumonia...almost

Well went to the dr.
My strained voice from the swimming carnival turned out to be an evil bug lurking about. With my asthma and lack of willingness to go to the dr, my chest has become so bad, that I have borderline pneumonia! If I hadn't gone in today, I would have had it by the end of the week.

WTF? It wasn't all that bad until yesterday! But my chest is soooo sore...it burns...it doesn't really surprise me!

So with antibiotics, I will be "ok" for Bali...and good in 6 days (just before we come home!).
Last time I went on holidays i was pregnant in the first trimester and incredibly sick. So now, not pregnant, but incredibly ill.

And exercise I am guessing is out...especially if I am not allowed to work!

Bugger

cardio

OMG! I did the cardio with Step Into Life this morning...to make up for next Saturday's kickboxing class when i will be away.

It doesn't help when  you are sick and coughing up gross stuff, and your chest is so tight...

But it was an absolute killer! Kickboxing is EASY compared with cardio!

I will never put my body through that again!

Except, I think it would be good to maybe throw it in once every 2 months or so...give my body a jolt and let me know I am not as fit as I thought I was.

Anyway, I am off to the dr. The not being able to breathe after 10seconds of running has prompted me to give them a call. How will I play netball tonight???

Not a good sick person

My problem(s) with being sick...

I cannot do what I want to do.
I am always in denial for the first few days, don't do anything about it, so therefore get sicker.
I am determined to do what I want to do, so ignore my sickness, do it, and then get sicker.
My daughter does not understand that sick means "Leave me alone", "Don't climb on mummy", "Don't force her eyelids open", "Don't try to walk on mummy's belly"...oh so many of them! I then get no rest, and get sicker.
When my daughter finally sleeps, I can't, still no rest, and get sicker.

So you guessed it, I am sick.
I thought I strained my voice at the swimming carnival as my voice wavered and my throat got sore. Big deal.
Then my nose started running. Oh well, all related.
Then my ears started aching...hmmm...maybe not a strained voice.
Then coughing and spluttering up stuff.
Then the feeling of absolute, I am going to be sick...no wait...going to go to the toilet...no wait...oh what the heck, lets do both. (Well that is what it feels like, if not physically happening!)

And when does this happen?

3 days before bali.
1 day before my weigh in where I so want to be 15kg lighter then when I started WW.

Has this stopped me exercising?
God no...so of course this has probably sapped all my energy out of me making it 10x worse!

I haven't gone as hard, so at least I exercised without going overboard.

Unfortunately it means, there is no way I can achieve some of my goals.
HIIT is out. would have done it tonight but no chance.
I wanted to run 3.4km today (2 and a bit laps of the lake) but instead, I walked one lap, jogged one lap and walked one lap. Yesterday I did kickboxing (hard again) and I had to slow down the running...chest was just burning. at least i didn't feel sick yesterday! just the head and chest not working well!

I have my catch up class for kickboxing at 6am tomorrow, since I will be in bali next week. since it is the only chance i have to do it, i will be going whether i am sick or not...but gees, that was supposed to give me a real big boost for tomorrow's weigh in.
I might still be lucky. It has just hit me at the end of the week. I could have been suffering all week long.
When I am sick, i never seem to lose my appetite. I want to eat real solid food. pasta and the like. and lots of it. So lucky it has just been today. I am actually questioning if i have a bit of a flu and a bit of food poisoning from last night?? I hope in away it is because then at least the toilet issue and the desire to vomit will be gone very soon. then just the flu to worry about.

If I don't lose my 700gms this week, I will be disappointed, but I am not going to let it bother me too much. I have to take the good with the bad. Accept that I will catch up another time. It is a delay, not a stop. And big deal! Look at me now. I look great, feel great (well when not sick) and fit into great clothes. I have muscle definition. I am starting to like looking at myself in a mirror, albeit fully clothed - naked me is still an eye opener! I get compliments from people every week, almost every day. I am inspiring people. I can't complain!

More good news to not beat myself up over!
-I am 2cm taller then I thought I was (I always thought I was 169cm, was told no...you are 167cm when I was pregnant, but my short friend is 165cm and we know I am more then 2cm taller, so I measured and I was right the first time...169cm) which means this helps with my BMI! YAY! :) still obese though :(
-2cm off my bust. YAY!
-3cm off my hips YAY!
-my new size 16 jeans, while fitted perfectly in the shop - nice and tight fitting and looked great, are too big! Loose around waist and crutch. still wearable, but still too big!
-My new size 16 adidas pants are too big! They are only 3 weeks old.
-My sister gave me some of her "fat" clothes (she is very thin) which were size 12 + 14. Zip up, although tight and one skirt needs the hips taken in although a little tight on the waist! A couple of labels in there too!

And, I probably should have put this first but it isn't weight related.
After 6 years of trying, looking into IVF, having procedures to have IVF and then deciding against the emotional rollercoaster and succumbing to life without children, my sister is pregnant! :) 6 weeks, only known a few days, but HOW AWESOME! I will be Aunty!
We haven't had a lot to do with each other. She has not been an Aunt to my daughter; when she tried for so long and unsuccessful and I tried for 1 month and bang i can understand why she has been distant, but at the same time...this isn't about her and i, and jealousy, sadness, competition...this is about a child and she hasn't been apart of her life. I have been really angry at her for not being apart of her life. I want my child to have family. my parents live 7 hours away.
i have an aunty with 2 boys who are a big part of her life...and we have my husband's mum. That is it. Nobody else wants or shows any desire to be in my daughter's life. so i just hope like hell, that now, she will understand why my daughter and myself need her. and that she can actually show that family is important and wanted.
I am so excited for her, it is a relief that it can finally happen for her. And I really really hope it will enable us to become closer.

A big post, a big few days.
One more thing...I am all signed up and paid for the bridges fun run. 5km...and I have committed to NOT walking any of it! So this damn cold has to go soon. I am going to start week 4 of C25K this week, podcasts are downloaded. Looking forward to it! I have surprised myself with how much I am enjoying running! YAY :)

A brag!

Went to buy some board shorts for Bali at Target today. My old ones (only 3 months old) fall to my knees so desperate for new ones!
Unfortunately they only had really small ones or the size i had or larger. so no board shorts.

But they had 30% off denim and I had the same problem with my one pair of fat jeans from the fat dept. in Myer (sorry if I offend anyone saying fat...but I have always seen myself as fat, and i have only ever fitted into fat clothes!). The crutch would be at my knees, and wearing a belt just didn't cut it...the butt was still baggy.
So anyway, thought I would just try on a pair of jeans, size 18 from the normal part of target...not the MODA (fat persons) part, and crossed my fingers and wished for luck!

Well...

I just want to say that I walked out with a pair of size 16 jeans from the normal section!
WOW! I cannot believe it! I am saying that if i can fit into size 16 jeans, then I am officially a size 16!

Now nobody ruin it for me by telling me that Target is slightly larger in sizing! LOL. I never used to be able to fit into the size 18 normal or big clothes.

So HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!

Oh and I fitted into another bra i had hardly ever worn cos it was cutting circulation off my boobs. Now....they give me perk :)!

Thanks also for the comments! I love them! :)
Netball is great. I had my pedometer on awhile ago and I only did about 2500 steps. It is what you make it. I was determined to make the game on Tuesday a real work out and I did a lot of running. the other time i probably did the bare minimum! I really struggled with netball earlier on...not only did i sweat like a pig, but the weight on my knees was tough. I struggled to go in all the directions you needed to go in and jumping was a joke. And it was pretty degrading when the skinny fit things would look at you as if you belonged at home on the couch eating KFC. They really thought they would have an easy ride. I don't get those looks anymore, I can dodge and jump and out rebound anyone my height and some a little taller.  so it is WONDERFUL! Everyone has to start somewhere!

Busy busy busy!

Well, netball Monday and Tuesday and skipped week 2 of C25K as I found the first session too easy. This one was a little harder, but I am going to do 2 sessions of it at least as I think it will help me build up my cardiovascular system.
I have noticed already though, that it has improved. my asthma is no longer hampering my running. It is great!

Been busy the last few days with exercise and work and whatever else happens to be in the way!

After a long hot day at a swimming carnival, I decided to go for a jog after school. Was hoping for a good 20 minutes, but no...even though it is after 4pm (and still early for me to leave work) someone insists that they must speak to me NOW. They were going to even stop me going to the toilet and a. going to the toilet b. getting changed. i told them they can wait. how rude!
So by the time I got to the park I wanted to run at,  I had 12 minutes before I had to pick up my daughter. gee great! So i jogged for 10minutes and stretched for 2, picked up daughter slightly late, and rushed home to cook dinner. Yummy homemade pizza with left over chicken.

Then took dog for the C25K. He is soooo slack! Every lap he wanted to get in the car. And would be a good 200m behind me! Is he getting slacker or me fitter?
I am not sure if I am doing an appropriate speed for the jog part, so I am thinking on Friday I will do it on the treadmill and get some distances to match the speed. if i can work it out! can't be too hard. I will also need my darling hubby to download some podcasts so i can actually do week 4 and above...my HIIT man won't cut it. He can only do 2 times, not 5!

Netball on monday I played Centre for 3/4! So proud! And I played ok! I kept up with the other centres (they couldn't go more then a quarter at a time) and while I find it difficult to lead, that is because i am out of my position, not because i am unfit. Tuesday I played WA all game against this team that was quite good (i filled in and we aren't good) but OMG BITCHY! I am the most un-nasty player you could imagine. I might get annoyed, but I don't take it out on anyone. will just mouth after the game! I used to be bad. very bad. had some very choice words with umpires at times, and pushed the ball into others if they got too close to me. but since playing with parents and students...soon learned to keep it down. A new person on the court!

Anyway, one of the girls says,"Lets go (insert team name), lets show you don't have to be nasty to play well!). What The??? One of our girls plays very body body...one is quite uncoordinated and doesn't deliberately hurt others...but where was the nastiness? and to generalise about the whole team...I was just in shock! Really put me off. Although I did wear my pedometer and i did about 7000 steps in the one game, so I did a lot of running! Just have to see it as a work out! :) (I did just under 15000 for the day by the way!).

Today's steps were so much better! Day not even finished and I have done 22528 steps. That is 9 points for me. I haven't added bonus points for the exertion of jogging, i wont worry as 9 points is plenty! I don't use those points anyway, so not a big deal! So while it was a stinker of a day at the carnival and I am sure to lose my voice in the morning, it certainly helped to get my steps up! :)

I am feeling so good. Even starting to think I can feel muscles in my arms! Still amazed that I can feel and see my collar bone. It is soo nice! I really feel healthy too. I keep touching my skin and I am amazed at how smooth it is! It is also incredibly moist! I normally get very dry skin, especially on the cheeks. But not now. And still no ezcma, despite sweating so much and wearing double bras, and wearing socks constantly.

Weigh in on Monday night was a loss of 500g. After Saturday nights extra glass of wine and 3 course meal, I didn't expect too much! And I am always happy with a loss! I just keep thinking, that the smaller losses allow my body to stabilise and hopefully reduce the amount of excess skin. And it just means the strive to get to 15kg lost by Bali is Number 1 priority this week...700g to lose...and I know i can do it! I am sure my goals I have set will get me there, and kick boxing will be tough...make me sweat! And I have my make up class on Monday (what a shame in Bali the following week!) which is a cardio class. All set for monday weigh in.

I am sure there were a few more things I wanted to say, but can't remember! Daughter was awake for 2 hours last night (of all damn nights too, before a carnival) so quite tired and my mind certainly isn't in thinking mood. One thing I can think of though...this time next week I will be flying to Bali! YAY! :)

kick boxing...intermediate!

Well this morning, I did kick boxing again. apparently last week was easy (it was tough!) and because we all got the technique down so well, this week we moved up to advanced.
And you know what...
Last week WAS EASY!

This week...tough tough tough. A lot of running and sprints (which is just a slightly faster jog for me!). very few rests, yet when you hold the bag to receive the kicks and punches...what great resistance and allows for wonderful interval training.

I love "Step Into Life"! If any one needs to know the name of an outdoor training group...seriously...this is the best one!
I was with Babes on the Run...and was never pushed. I had to push myself, and I don't think I knew what I was capable of!

Cherrie-Anne, my trainer, is wonderful! When she says "sprint" she even gets in there to try to get you to just go that bit quicker! She is so motivated and you can't help but try to impress her and keep up, and keep push push pushing!
So much so that 1 girl actually threw up, and another oh so close! One girl had her heart rate so damn high...but at least we check it, see if we are in our optimal training zone. Babes never did that!

I took my WW friend, who thought she was going to die. She wished she had come last week to the "easy" one! Unfortunately she can't run due to bad knees (they kill us all!), but she still got her heart rate up with the kicking and boxing and she just looked dead. And then at the end, when she could breathe again, joined up and just thought it was great!

Then, because I am crazy, i got home to relax, but my hubby had told our girl that we would go for a bike ride! So off we went for a half hour bike ride down by the river...it actually was longer, but we stopped at a park. And it was over 30degrees when we went...
My legs were dead!

But the reason I am doing it...WEIGHT LOSS! And is it working???
I tried a dress on today, going out for hubby's birthday tonight, and I really wanted to see if I could fit into this dress I have worn once...on our anniversary in 2005, before I got pregnant.
one month ago i couldn't zip it at the side.
Today, look smokin'! It zips up, my stomach looks flat and my boobs aren't all squashed up! I look decent! I don't look like an overweight person stuck for clothes. I look like I belong to that dress!
Hubby will be surprised! :)
It is so nice to be able to fit into normal clothes. i even went to harbour town to buy his birthday present and got some shirts for myself, from normal clothing stores. I can't remember what that was like!

So I am officially the lightest I have been since my husband met me. Lighter then when i had PT back in 2005 when I went hard after my knee reconstruction. Fitter then that time too, but not stronger. But I will get there. I am not concentrating on strength right now...it is a part of my exercise in kick boxing and when i do circuit work using my own body weight, but it isn't the focus. cardio is my focus as i have too much weight to lose!

And another bonus...looks like the boobs are getting smaller! finally! Lost 4cm from my chest, last time measured was 3 weeks ago. YAY! C cup here I come! :)

A Kitkat

Today was my first splurge! I was at the shops and kitkats were on sale. I have never once had an urge since starting WW for chocolate, which is weird, I thought I would struggle with chocolate! But alas...I had the urge and thought..."Stuff it...why not".
I got it home, calculated the points. 5 points for the whole chocolate (4bars)...hmmm...to have or not to have.
And I thought "Stuff it" once more. I ate it. All of it. Now nicely settled in my belly.
mmmm.....delicious.
1 treat in 4 months. 1 non weight watchers treat I should say (love ww rich toffee bars!).

And do I feel guilty? Of course not. I have allocated it into my points. I enjoyed it. I know it will probably be Easter before I have non ww chocolate, so I know I am not falling back into bad habits.

So until then, i will savour the delight I just had in scoffing it! :)

Goals: already saved my 6 points. YAY!
And started C25K run last night. I started at week 2, day 1, thinking week 1 would be too easy for me. Well, week 2 was too easy for me. How cool is that? So what I did, was increased the speed of my jog.
I actually prefer running at a slower pace and longer distance. once i stop to walk, it is so hard to get back into a jog. I might just do one more of week 2, then move into week 3 which looks more challenging.

Was going to get up early and do HIIT. But no, someone at 1am decided to not allow me my much needed sleep. Why do people insist on shouting, screaming, carrying on...for over an hour outside my house? not the first time this has happened...but could possibly be the most annoying time. Especially when 3 cop cars turned up. 2 arrived, left car idling. they turned them off after 10 mins. then a third turned up, car idling. GRRRR!!!! Turned off after 10 mins. Then one starts up immediately and drives off. Lovely. Next one starts up, idles. Screaming starts again, car continues to idle. Eventually leaves, another one comes. Now who is louder, the cops or the group of louts???
From what I could gather, one was incredibly drunk, stepped out onto the road, lady came round the corner in her car, hit him, stopped then drove off. Well, as horrible as it may have been, there were about 5 guys there, all loaded up on booze. He was the idiot on the road, and she would have seen the drunken gang and feared for her life! I would have! So why did the police not take them away immediately to the station and question them there? Instead of right outside our house! And why do drunk people think that yelling when they speak is normal???

So over an hour of putting up with that, I finally get back to sleep, only for my dog to want to go outside and snack. Grrrr...30 minutes later, he wants to come back in!
Why are people determined to stop me sleeping???

So I may be having a rest day today. I actually don't mind, although I should do something...as my hamstrings were a tad tight after my run yesterday, my fault, i didn't stretch. But a rest before kickboxing might be nice!

And since my DD is sleeping now, and I don't think i got even close to 6 hours sleep last night...I am going to attempt a nap on the couch. I shouldn't feel guilty about that, I deserve it, but I did have a nanna nap yesterday too...and the house is a mess and is desperate for a clean. I guess I will look at that when i wake up.

For now...nap! :)

Woohoo

Well, more then I probably thought I would lose. 1.3kg! :)
I thought maybe close to 1kg...so the hard work really did pay off!

Next week I am being greedy. I really want to get to my 15kg goal. I so want to lose 1.2kg. then I have done what I wanted to do...be 15kg lighter for when I go to Bali. That would be wonderful! And I would have done it a week in advance. Then I wont be too fussed if I gain 1kg when I am on holidays.
But could I really gain 1kg over 5 days? I will be drinking, and cocktails...and eating divine food. But we are 15 - 20mins walk out of Kuta and will walk into Kuta daily. Will also be using the gym at the hotel. And I will be sweating cos that what you do in Bali. so hopefully that will aide in counteracting the food and alcohol. I really want to go to Bali and just well...not worry. I wouldn't go over board, and quite frankly, I just can't drink what I used to 2 months ago. Get too tipsy too quickly...becoming a cheap drunk. But I don't want to stress about weight when i sip my cocktail!
It is still 2 weeks away and I am stressing already!

Not good to stress, but it will just make me more determined these next 2 weeks!

And started today!

I played netball tonight and did one quarter of Centre! WOW! And, while I played a not very good girl, I played well and it was easy, as far as the running is concerned! Just need to learn how to play the position! Unfortunately then I had to go off for a quarter, then played GK for a half, but my choice. I played really well against the GS and from being a draw at half time, we won! Not saying I won it for us, but we lifted and just got the job done. Felt good!
Tomorrow night I am playing netball again. 2 games this week. YAY!
Wednesday night I will jog with the dog.
Thursday start C25K.
Friday...walk dog.
Saturday Kickboxing
Sunday Lake
Monday HIIT
A busy week of exercise.

Exercise planned, but haven't planned food this week. Tomorrow nights is in the freezer...but will need to do some serious planning.

HIIT

OMG how hard is HIIT?
My gymboss, is now called "HIITMAN" and while all he does is beep and buzz...i hate him!
But it certainly made things different for jogging.

I set it, and successfully completed it, for 90second rest (walk then jog), 20second sprint (which no doubt was the equivalent to most people's jog!), for 10 lots.
I think I had the timing almost perfect. the 20seconds was just enough, any longer and i would have collapsed. 90seconds was probably a little too long a rest. especially since immediately after my sprint, i walked, then built up to a jog again.

It is so tiring. I will try to do it at least once a week. If I can do kickboxing Saturdays, Distance jog Sundays, HIIT on a Monday before hubby works...then the other days i can fit in walking and jogging with the dog, but nowhere near as long as the Sunday...I should be doing fine to get fit, lose weight and build up stamina for the city to surf.

With netball once a week, ride to WW when netball isn't on straight after, I have  good training program with lots of variety. The other days I might even see about doing the C25K. But I think I will be starting at higher week, think I am past week 1 already. how exciting!

But right now, I am quite dead. HIIT really took it out of me, more so then distance running, which goes for over 30 minutes! Hopefully my darling daughter will have a sleep very soon, and I can too.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

WOW! I did it and it wasn't even a goal!

I did the lake this morning, with my WW friend. Walked together the first lap...then...i went jogging, ever so slowly. Could I make the same as last time??? Could I do 200m more? That has been my goal each week, to better myself by 200m.

But no...couldn't beat it by 200m.
I beat it by 400m!
I did the lake twice...the whole way twice! 3.2km! no stopping!
YAY YAY YAY!

Of course this now means that I have to up it next week!

I am thinking that maybe next week I will try to do it a little faster.
took me 24 minutes this week. yes...that will be my goal!

So proud for getting the whole 2 laps though! I am getting fit! I am getting fabulous! :)

Kickboxing

Did Kickboxing this morning and absolutely loved it!
It is going to be tough!
We were introduced to the kicks/punches today, as it is the first session Step into Life have done (at my venue). But OMG it was still tough!
I can't wait for next week! Joined up straight after the class. It is expensive, and I got the look from hubby. But gees, if I was one to sign up and not go, not lose weight etc...I could understand his disapproval of my spending our money. But I am dedicated, if I pay I go, I put 100% in to things like and he should know, he has in the past seen me and he sees me when I return. I work my butt off!
And look at my results!

As soon as I got there, I was introduced to everyone. No silence, no false smiles...it was a happy group. There was a mix of ages, no skinny minnies...no snobbiness. so much nicer then the other group training that claims it is a bootcamp.
This lot are linked with the bridges fun run (10km) and the city to surf, which is my ultimate goal in August to run. They will help me get there. Unfortunately, I can only go once a week...if I could go 3x, I would be so confident in getting there! The trainer is a positive person. She is not a military hard nosed cow...but gee she makes you  up it if she thinks you can. My other trainer...soft soft soft. No encouragement to go harder.

the whole atmosphere is just nicer, friendlier and I think harder!

Down side...gone over my alcohol limit last night. had 3 glasses of wine. Nothing to what I would normally do, but over my 5 for the week. But that is ok. no more tonight, none tomorrow night. Still didn't go over points or anything, and still putting my $1 in for every time I get over 12000 steps, which at the moment has been every single day this week!
Next week will make it 50c for over 12000 and $2 over 15000. Need to incentive to push it further.

Fitness Test

well, today's group training was a lovely fitness test. Do I really need a fitness test to tell me I am unfit???

5.9 on the beep test. thought I would get 2, hoped I would get 6...but wasn't the first one out, about the 4th in the group. Thank goodness!

Wall sit...thought I would do alright at that as I have strong legs. But nope...2nd one out. made just over 1minute! very sad.

Step ups did ok with...above average for the group, tricep dips I did really well with, not the top but very close. Bicep curls did really well with, if not the top (I didn't hear a few results) certainly way up there.

Push ups...very proud...I didn't think I could do them...but did 25!!!! Then carried on with knee ones for a total of 53 push ups. YAY.

And the plank...2minutes of the plank! Woohoo! 4th person left standing (so to speak).

I know I shouldn't compare to other people, but life is that...we are judged on others. And growing up being competitive, I can't help but compare. And I don't have previous results to compare myself on. This was my first fitness test.
I am so pleased with myself because to look at these other women...they are thin, muscular and just damn fit looking. I don't look any of these...but I am up there in ability. Speed obviously isn't my strong point though!

Yesterday Mum and I went to harbour town as I needed some new work out clothes...all the others are falling down! and i needed some new shoes.
Well, Adidas, size 16 pants fit PERFECT!!!! wow! size 16. i cannot believe it! I never thought I would fit into them. Even got myself a pair of running shorts, XL but Brookes. And they are normally a really small make. So now I just have to get the confidence to wear little running shorts! I also got a running top which i wore today, and i love it! normally i can feel the sweat on my shirt, and smell! not in my new top! it is so lightweight. I no longer need oversized tops to hide and cover (and lets face it the only thing that fits me!). I can wear normal clothes! :)
And although not clothes related, also got my pair of shoes! some netball ones. when i go to bali i will buy a pair of running shoes.

Today, Mum and I are having our hair done. Decided to spend a bit extra and get half head of foils as well. using that as my 10kg reward instead of a massage, especially since i just had my birthday one and will have a fair few in Bali!

So now at 9.15 today i have my second training...how will i do it???

Parents Over

so already after one night of my parents visiting, there are a few little issues!
They think I look great. Wonderful!
So, last night were supposed to have fish for dinner. But still frozen. Takeout. What to have. Dad wants KFC. I choose subway or something and the comment, "Come on, you never see us, you can eat what we are having". I very sternly said, "no, I am fat for a reason and I am losing weight, it works, I wont ruin it...and we are going out tomorrow night so that is 2 nights of bad food, so no" His reply, "If you are fat, what does that make me?" How close was I to saying...."FAT too!". instead I just said that I shouldn't have chunkier legs then my father (which sadly I do). The only way I am going to continue to look wonderful, is by sticking to this!
He is obviously happy and comfortable being his size. He has it all in his stomach...i think it could have something to do with BEER!

So what did I choose? I went and had one of those Dominoes Pizzas...6.5 points for the one I chose, and really really yummy. Perfect size, didn't need anything else.
And I am so glad I stuck to my guns. I was picking apart KFC chicken for my daughter and the fat! oh it was disgusting. I didn't want to put that gunk in my body. And how bad did I feel that I was feeding my daughter that! What a terrible mother! I did try to pick of the batter for her...but of course she wanted it, and then more!

I did a work out yesterday after work with my WW buddy. Did 2km on the treadmill in under 14mins! YAY!. I did 10 minutes of running straight, with minute intervals, 8.5kph to 11, 8.5 to 11.5, 8.5 to 12. and I wasn't about to pass out! SO VERY PROUD! I am getting fit! Obviously can get fitter, but I am doing it!
Have encouraged my friend to join me at the lake on sunday...she can only walk, and i will jog. not sure how it is going to go, probably wont be doing it together if i am jogging! Not going to set a goal for Sunday's run. Have to think of other goals, and quite late in the week!

Second day at work, more compliments. Was really really nice. Was told by one that i look great but i really didn't need to lose it in the first place. What? if only they knew i weighed 100+ at the beginning, they would never say that! They would never allow themselves to be that weight, so why was it ok for me?

back to work

Well, work today...how hard going back after such a lovely break!

I was really nervous about going back. Last years class was the best I had ever taught. I did have one child that rocked the boat, but one out of 31 ain't bad!  So what was I going to get this year? I knew 10 were going to be good. but what about the rest?
So I have 29 students...and 2 possible trouble makers. So 27 gorgeous kids. 1 who is just a funny kid who needs attention, but certainly not nasty or anything. The other just likes to talk! so really 29 lovely kids. I didn't think I could ever get better then last year...but after day 1...I think I have the best class!

Two of last years students (1 I have again) said to me, "You look different". I asked how and neither of them could put their finger on it, but it was different in a good way!
1 teacher said "oh you have had your hair cut...no wait, that isn't it...you have new clothes (just i fit in to the old nice ones i used to have)...no...gees, you have lost a lot of weight haven't you?" That was so nice to hear.
1 other teacher said, "look at you, slimmer, fitter and terrific!"...
and yet another teacher stopped me twice to find out exactly what I was doing to be looking so good...but stressed it wasn't just that I had lost weight, I looked really fit too.

How good did/do I feel after those comments??!!! But then, I thought (because I am probably incredibly greedy and need it all about me me me) how come not everyone has noticed? Give it time...when I am in under 90kg I am sure everyone will say it! Then under 80...Watch out world!!!

Obviously the comments have made me feel on top of the world and I am just on a high and feel like nothing is stopping me. Another boost to keep going and going strong...not that I had even considered stopping!

another high...I wore this skirt that hasn't fitted for about 2 years. And this gorgeous silk top, which has been about 1 year since i could get it on properly. So put them on, skirt loose, top fits perfect. tucked my top in and my stomach looked quite good in the skirt. normally i would wear it out, but it looked nice tucked in. looked modern and schmick! I cannot remember ever feeling like i wasn't wearing daggy clothes made to hide all the lumps and bumps!

Anyway...the exercise...yesterdays boot camp was nowhere near as hard as the interval training. It wasn't easy...but I felt good and could do it all. Arms were almost killing me, but didn't wake up sore today, so that is a bonus.
Rode to WW meeting. Then netball. Played really really well. Finally able to shoot, not that I felt confident playing outdoors for the first time since primary school!
And just a short 10 minute jog with the dog, it was too dark and this area is too dodgy to be out at night.
Tomorrow I am off to my WW friend's house to work out together, straight after work. She desperately needs to get back on track.

At WW meeting, the leader asked who always wears their pedometer...of course I do and put my hand up. She said "oh Kylie, i need you to stand up...this girl has been losing weight week by week by week...she is going great guns" and all gushing and glowing. I felt so proud of my efforts and the comments others said felt really sincere. One lady was talking to me prior to the meeting and she was amazed at all the exercise I was doing and how great it was and the results are obviously showing.

It is so strange to receive so many compliments. And genuine compliments. The first one i ever got, i didn't know how to react. Now, I know I have worked hard to get where I am, I deserve every one of them! If that sounds big headed, then so be it...I am proud, happy and I want people to notice it all.

Could it be that I am already starting to achieve one of my long term goals? I am certainly liking myself, possibly for the first time, but could I actually be looking at me...inside and out...and starting to love who I am?
