Injured...been one year almost to the day.

I started weight watchers because I kept getting injured when I tried to run or play any sport. The injury took forever to heal because of my weight. During the time of absence from sport, I put on more weight.
I had to sort out the weight issue via an alternative to exercise and joined WW.
Best thing I ever did. I learnt pretty quickly that you get better results when you focus on food as the cause of your weight, and food will help you lose it. And exercise will improve weight loss further, and give you all those wonderful fitness benefits etc...

So anyway, I ran to weigh in last night and I weighed and woohoo! PRO POINTS works! I lost 1.2kg. I haven't lost that much in months! Also meant I dropped into 78kg! After 3 months at being 79.x and maintaining that weight, i finally hit the next mark! YAY on a high! I walked home nice and fast, and went off to netball.

Picture me, flying through the air, with NO ONE around me. My speed, my agility, I had lost my opponent...left her for dead! An easy pass to me. I land. On the side of my foot. oh no, not just the side of my foot...the bone on your ankle took my whole 78.4kg body weight and was squashed into the floor. Immediately I jumped off of that bone (oh my god how did i do that?) and then tried to land on the ball of my foot like I am supposed to! But no...that would be too easy! Instead this time, I land on the inside of my foot...and yep you guessed it, that inside jutting out bone that makes an ankle an ankle...it landed on the floor and took my 78.4kg body weight. Oh my ankle went from one right angle to another right angle.

to say I was in pain is an understatement. And now...still in pain. But better. I have turned to wine. I know, terrible...but it works well with the painkillers! I know, even more terrible!
DH has taken DD to my parents place down south, as we are off to Bali tomorrow night. So I am here alone. Having to walk around, get food, let dog in and out, feed dog, hobble, use crutches, try to carry things with crutches, reverting to semi hopping...there isn't any thing I can do about it...DD has to go down south and DH had to take her. I am just so damn frustrated. And because I can't stand for long, carry much, and can't be bothered...I had a bowl of hot chips for dinner...and icecream, and now onto the wine. A big glass.
Terrible!
But seriously...needed!

My ankle is blue. on the inside, the outside and up the leg. The swelling was the size of softball...bigger then a baseball, but certainly not a basketball! The swelling has gone down...it is not as localised now, it is swelled all over.
It hurts. I am in pain when i put one toe on the ground.

But it could be worse. It could have been 108kg landing on the bone at right angles...I could have been 108kg having to have 2 people carry out to my car. It could be hopping 108kg around and struggling to haul the huge body around.
It could have been much worse.

Now, I am forced to spend my 5 days in Bali by the pool. I don't think I will be losing the weight I lost last time in Bali when I walked everywhere! i am going to rest while i am there. I am going to show off my bikini I bought! I am going to enjoy myself. I am going to hope that my ankle heals quickly...I don't want a trip to dr on my return.

I am going to be thankful that it is what it is...it could be SOOOO much worse. And it has been a year since my last injury. My last exercise stopping injury. That isn't too bad!

I just need to keep reminding myself of that!!!

In the meantime...i need a cuddle! :(

I'm such a bad blogger nowadays!

I am a terrible blogger at the moment! I am blogging once every 2-3weeks. I used to blog daily!
What happened?
The weight loss wasn't as rapid!
I didn't have anything to brag about!
And the bad stuff in my life wasn't so bad anymore, so not so much to whinge about.

So the good and bad evened out.

But it didn't.
The good stuff is far better then the bad stuff.
There isn't much bad, and lots of good. There is no evening out. It is just on its way up!

Good stuff of late:
I ran the Margaret River Fun Run yesterday. For those that don't know, Margaret River is down south of WA. It is a gorgeous country town in the middle of wine country, and a few farms are still there. It is surf land. 10km from the beach. It is a perfect place. Infact, my husband and I love it so much down there, we got married at a winery in Margaret River. So the run was from the town to the river mouth. It also meant a few hills, just for fun!
It was actually quite an easy run. As easy as a run can be. I completed it in 63minutes. I am wrapped. I wanted under 1hour 10mins.
Recovery afterwards was relatively simple, and i have woken up this morning fine. No soreness or tightness and all good!
This shows me I am FIT!

In one month we are going to Bali. I need a new pair of bathers. I would love a pair of bikinis. I have never worn a pair...for reasons we all know! I mentioned to my DH that I would love to one day own a pair and have the confidence to wear them in public. Last night, he said, "I think you should buy a bikini for Bali, you have the body for it!" Holy cow! I have the body for bikinis? Are you serious? I have those flabby bits in my inner thighs that I think YUCK. The bits that rub together, don't let the sunlight in!  The bit that chaffes and  causes those unsightly red marks.  Shorts are required to cover those flabby bits up! I also see loose skin on my belly. My boobs...oh my boobs. Always been massive. Now if I lean over I have the rocks in socks. Still have the size (a little smaller) but have the excess skin, thus the socks are actually tube socks! My boobs shouldn't be in little triangular pieces of cloth! They need support.
But you know what, I am going to go and try some on on Thursday night. DH will come and give comment. He is pretty honest with things like that. Even if I don't believe I have a bikini body, he does tell me if "my bum looks big in this" so I can trust him.
How exciting...going bikini shopping!
I am guessing my body is more toned then I actually see.

More good stuff...our house is on the market. having an auction the weekend before we go to Bali. It is exciting. It is stressful, and we have only just started the process, but we want to build...that is exciting! The house we want to build is just gorgeous! We have a block on a subject to sale offer. So now to sell!!! In the mean time, the house looks great!

Selling means giving up some stuff.  Netball. Too far to travel. Step Into Life, south Perth group, my training group. Yes I can go somewhere else. But I love my netball team, i love my trainers! and the people in it! I will try to work something out, but I dare say I will have to find a new team and change Step Into Life groups, and love both!

My work, I am loving at the moment. I normally love my work. I love teaching. I love my class. I go through phases where I am just over it. but at the moment I love it. I always hate the politics of teaching. I hate the administration side of teaching. I hate the other stuff. But I love my kids. My kids are GORGEOUS! I am not looking forward to the end of term as it means my 10 year 7s go to highschool, and i love my year 7s. The year 6s are gorgeous too, and I lose them too. :( One of my year 7s asked me if I could possibly teach EVERY day, not just my two days.  The reason being
"When I go home from school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays I always go home and talk to mum and dad about what I learnt. I always learn something on your days. I get something out of every lesson."
Firstly, what kind of 12 year old talks like that? Secondly, is that not the BEST compliment a teacher can get? The teacher I have on the other days, is a lovely teacher, she is fun and friendly and the kids love her. So to actually get a compliment like that, WOW! And what a student! She cares about learning. She wants to learn! And what a family! They talk about learning!

Onto weight loss. I am currently at 79.3kg. Hopefully this will come down tonight at weigh in. I am steady at 79. I am close to goal. I am comfortable where I am at, but still determined to get to goal. I know what makes me put on weight. I know what makes me bloated. I know what my body needs/doesn't need and I know my body. I know that my body loves pasta when it is eating it, but I cannot have pasta on a daily basis because my body seems to want to reject it. And I listen to my body. I probably have pasta 2 or 3 times a week now. Before it would be 5 days a week. So yes, I have been at 79 for a while. But it is ok. I have learnt a lot about food, about my body and more importantly, I have learnt to listen to my body. It is the only I am ever gonna have so we need to work together!
I am also noticing that i am really toning up. One day I will think "Gee I have really bad nanna's hangers (tuck shop lady arms)" then a week later, I don't have so much hang! So that is all good too!  Slow weight loss, reduces the excess skin. It gives the skin time to adapt. Slow weight loss makes it easier to maintain. If you lose it fast, you can put it back on just as fast.
Slow and steady....truly does win the race!
The race that isn't a race that is! :)

A personal update

I haven't posted about my relationship for awhile. Most of you who have been following me for awhile, supporting me for awhile, know I have major issues with my DH. He is stingy, never talks to me, unsupportive, unemotional and any other "un" words would probably apply to him as well!

In recent times, we have had major improvements.

Firstly, he has finished studying so he has time for me and our DD. He has a lot of time for me. We actually do things together, and he wants too...he doesn't just do it to shut me up!

He also talks to me. We have real conversations. There are still somethings he will email me on, and i have told him that is something he should actually say to my face, not via email, and he acknowledges that I am right. We have things to talk about now too. He doesn't like to hear about my work, but he listens. He is eager to find out about my weight loss, now that I am so close to goal and he asks me how I went after weigh in. My last weigh in with the gain, he actually asked what I think I had done to deserve it. The one I just missed because I am a sook and didn't want 80 written on my card because I knew I had gained even more...DH went through the things I had done that week to put on weight....without being nasty.
He is actually paying attention.

He has on occassions told me how good I look, and physically he shows it too. He is attracted to me and wants me.

Support wise, he is actually going to join me for a fun run in Margaret River later this month...the 24th so just around the corner. He might not say he supports me, but this small action shows it is there.

Money....I feel still so controlled with the money. But even he has told me that I need to have access to our accounts online (i never had the passwords) because it is irresponsible that only ONE person has the control. Here I was thinking he wanted to control all ins and outs of money, and he did actually want me to be involved, but he didn't TALK! So now that he talks, we can resolve some stuff. He also said that he doesn't mind me spending money and he doesn't even mind what I spend my money, but I have to be aware of how much I am going through. Now please note, I do not spend a lot of money! But we have had birthdays/births/anniverary/royalshow etc to spend money on, and because I TAKE the money out, it is like I AM spending, when really it is for both of us. But he is right, I do need to know when the spending account is getting low. I do need to be involved in that side of things, and just to know that he isn't criticising my spending was good.

We are actually in a really good place. Not perfect. We will still need to work at our relationship, but I think all relationships need work. He does struggle with showing emotion and talking about his feelings, and it is something we will keep working at. But we are in a good place. We are not getting divorced. I don't want to get divorced anymore, and I am not leaving him.

in fact, we are in such a good place, we are looking at selling our house and building a brand new one. This has been great for us too, as we have been driving together looking at land, talking about it, going through display homes and liking and disliking the same things for the exact same reasons. We are quite passionate about the building process and our wants are exactly the same! We have even discussed, in the process of picking out our needs for the house and how many bedrooms, the likelihood of another child. Now I have always just wanted one. He wants two. He was really upset that I didn't want more (see what can come out of a conversation!). But now I am more open to having another child, but when DD is at school full time. So now we have talked about children, houses and it would take a year to build, a year to get settled and then in that time maybe try for another child, if all is still going well.

So huge changes in the relationship. I am happy in my relationship. I am in love with my husband again. And I know he loves me. I am still entitled to bitch about him whenever I feel like having a bitch though! But for now, we are happy and all is strong! :)

not quite an 80s girl

Well, I had a 900g GAIN! OUCH! Not quite into the 80s again though. 79.9kg. PHEW I stayed under!
That is one good thing!
The only real thing I can put it down to, is not eating my points due to illness. Well, if that is all it is, I know I will be in for a couple of good weeks (no weigh in next week due to public holiday!).

Onto other news.
Grand final for netball tonight.
We lost :( 25 to 9. Not even double figures.
We played like crap. But you know, we were made to play like crap. The other team played so well, they didn't let us into the game at all. They deserved to flog us!

Runner ups got an engraved wine glass, so that was cool.

But on a good note for the night. I got a REAL surprise!

I WON FAIREST AND BEST FOR THE SEASON!
19 votes! I was blown away! So I have my trophy all ready to take to school tomorrow. The kids always brag about their achievements...my turn now!

the other thing I did, one of our players asked me to take in some before shots, because she can't remember what I looked like big.
I took in 2009 school photos, 2010 school photos which were taken beginning of term 2.
the difference is amazing!
I only have one chin now. my cheeks are smaller, you can see my eyes more. Even from the second photo to now, I have a lot more bone structure around my collar bone.
And the thighs...2009 - legs met up just before my knees...that is when you could see a gap.
2010 - legs met up half way up leg.
Now - legs meet up right up the top, and I even have a small gap above that flabby bit.
And a huge difference in my waist and boobs. My boobs no longer cover my whole body. and I have shape!

I will try to scan some on. but will be awhile!

Now, to enjoy my trophy!! :)

a big gain coming up

well, after an ok week, I am heading for quite a big gain tomorrow at weigh in. I will be an 80s girl again.
Why?
I don't know.
All I can really put it down to is being sick and under eating. Monday night I was incredibly sick and vomiting during the night. Tuesday was dead tired and had a churning cramping stomach. Ate about 7 points for the day. Wednesday I think I ate 18 points. I am on 22 points.
thursday I was pretty much back to normal and did some exercise.
Friday, Sat and today I have gone over points, and I have also exercised. I have not gone over excessively, but I was trying to make up for Tuesday's lack of points.

My body didn't like it at all. It has pretty much been telling me for a while now that if I don't eat all my points, I can't save them. It doesn't like it.

So a big gain this week, 1kg plus.

Next week is a public holiday so no weigh in. I will have 2 weeks to get it off! I also have all my bonus exercise classes, and holidays next week.

I am planning on going to a class wed night, thursday night and my normal sat class, with the power flex (yoga) afterwards.
Then, the first week of holidays, the plan is to go to monday session, tues and wed morning sessions, Sat double class again. I might even do a tues or wed evening session as it is toning, whereas the morning is cardio.
the week after will be very similar.

Crossing fingers I can get rid of the big gain!

Netball grand final tomorrow night too. Will be a good game! We were equal 1st on the ladder, with the team we are playing tomorrow night. We have won twice and lost twice to them during the regular season. I think we won last time, but really can't remember. It will be tight! Hopefully I can pull off a winning performance again, the soreness on Tuesday will be worth every bit of it!!! :)

PHOTOS of the party!

Just thought I would add some photos from the party. Thank you to everyone for your comments on my last VERY LONG post! It truly is a wonderful feeling to be this happy. I know everyone will get to feel this way...we are a determined bunch on here! :)
Me, in purple, receiving my
"Look Who's A Hot Mama Now" award
From (L-R) trainers Mel, Cherie-Anne + Jason

A quick change swap and a VERY HAPPY Kylie to win a months free training!
The changers!!!

I am sure you can tell it was a great night, fun had by all of us! The guy in the black and white dress, is 65 years old, his daughter was there and was absolutely mortified (she is 17)  but he is the fittest guy for any age! He just goes for it in every session, a regular at kick boxing and flogs me in the running! Age has no barriers!

i went to a party!

I live a quiet life, generally. My DH doesn't like to be around people much, he is shy and quiet. so we don't go out to pubs and clubs a lot, ever! Normally it will be to a bbq, something small and intimate.

so my Step Into Life group had their 1 year anniversary. PARTY! Of course I am going! Asked DH if he wants to come, NOPE. So, great, I am going by myself!

So first worry: drinking. How will  I control myself around free beer/wine/sparkling?
Not a worry at all...I will drive!
Second worry...no second worry. I don't need to worry about a dress, formal: get dressy! I have my gorgeous dress, and I didn't need to worry what I looked like. I think I look good and that is all that really matters now!
So off I go to the party, on my own! And had a ball!

Normally, as the fat girl, I am the loud, funny one. I think I am funny, even if no one else does! But loud...everyone knows I am that. I am sure many of you will relate. If you are loud and funny, people are listening to you, not looking at your body. I am sure it doesn't work that way, but it is what I have always thought! And of course alcohol always helps!

I didn't know too many people there, yet talked to heaps! Learnt a lot about people.

I won an award...Look Who's a Hot Mama Now?!
I had to do a speech. I admitted, out loud, to strangers that I used to weigh over 100kg.
I admitted, and for the first time on here now, that when I fell pregnant, I was told I was too obese to go to a normal hospital, I HAD to go to the one specifically for pregnancy as I was at high risk. The hospital was brilliant, I wasn't high risk and had midwives, but lets face it, I was morbidly obese. I just didn't realise it at the time. I knew I was fat, but people my size can go to any hospital...it isn't like I was unable to walk! But alas, I was morbidly obese and the beds obviously wouldn't cater for my size.
To be called hot, even if tongue in cheek, felt amazing!
I got a round of applause. And some tears!
I felt great.
I had congrats left, right and centre! I was also this months "cover girl" for our magazine, so a lot of people commented on that and how "inspirational" I am.

I want to comment on that...am I really inspirational?
I mean how can someone be that inspirational? I SHOULD NEVER have been that big. If I was inspirational, I would have stopped myself getting to a BMI close to 40. Other people do it. why didn't I? After I was told I was morbidly obese, did it make me lose weight? NO! Instead I put more weight on! I was heavier when I started WW then I was at 9 months pregnant. That isn't inspirational. That is crazy! What did I need to make changes?
I am certainly proud of who I am, what I have achieved and how I feel. But to be inspirational to others? Especially to people who are "normal" as such?? No.

Back to the party. I also won a prize. 1 month of free training, as many times as I want.
The game to win...swap clothing with a member of the opposite sex who you aren't related to, or bf/gf with.
One of the guys grabbed me and said "we are winning this!"
Off we went to the hallway, stripped and changed (underwear left on!) ran back and WON! Now, I had absolutely no time to really think about what I was doing at the time. But it wasn't a private hallway. People ran past us to the toilets to get changed. For the first time in my life, i didn't think "Oh my god! I am fat and ugly, I have fat rolls, he must think I am so ugly, I won't fit into his clothes, How can I cover up? oooh, what if he sees that part of me?" all those things I would have thought. NONE of these hit my head at the time. What i did think was, "WOW, I can get my legs into his jeans...and oh wow, the zip and button are doing up! I fit into a thin man's jeans!"

Now, in hindsight, this could seem a little slutty...but I assure you in NOWAY was it! I don't have that in me! It was the fastest change I have ever done!
I am glad of a few things on Saturday night...
1. I wore matching underwear.
2. I wore nice, clean, no holes etc underwear! It wasn't Bridgette Jone's underwear!
3. I didn't care about my body. I was actually proud!
4. I had confidence in myself! No alcohol, no hiding behind any persona, I was me, I was confident, I was strong!
5. I won!

Now the matching underwear only came to mind because after the event, the guy said "I must say, you have very nice matching bra and knickers, they looked great!" OMG! Then I think I went a different shade of crimson. I didn't think there was time for a perve at all! But obviously, men can sneak one in anywhere, anytime! LOL. So I look good even without clothes on?! Could this be true? I look good without the clothes sucking in all the bits that still need to be worked off? Someone saw me semi naked and wanted to take a peak and liked what they saw? That was me he was talking about? Are you serious?!
He then spent all night talking to me! So does that mean he hit on me? He got me drinks all night...water of course, respected that I was drinking water too! He has also asked me to join him running. Has given me the days he runs and would love to run "an easy 5k" with me!
I will also say that he is married with 4.5 children! So I am sure he wasn't hitting on me, but hey, it is a nice feeling to have been flirted with! Alas, I have no idea how to flirt!

I also, I think, had another man try to hit on me. He rubbed my arm as he congratulated me on my loss, and said I was certainly a hot mama. He even asked me what day I train, because he would love to train with me and be in my class. I am not used to this kind of attention, so I don't know if that is a come on or not?! It isn't something you would say in every day conversation surely?!

While I am not into returning the flirts/perves etc...I must say, when it happens, you walk away a bit "WOW", maybe a little big headed, certainly flattered and probably thinking you must look really hot!

When I got home, at a very decent time of 11pm, I told my husband that I got this award, won this prize (didn't ask how I won, didn't tell him) and that I was told I was gorgeous and hot...someone even said smart (hmmm, a blonde and smart...someone really is taking the mickey!) and he didn't say anything. So I said "it would be nice if my husband could maybe one day say that about me, not every day, but every now and then, especially when I make an effort"...he actually made a lovely reply..."You do look hot, you look great, awesome, the change is amazing!"
will it take another IN YOUR FACE comment to get a compliment like that again? We will see!

so now, I am all psyched. Not only  have others made me feel a little like Elle McPherson, but I have a month of extra training, just when I am ONLY 2.5kg away from goal. I am making the most of this, I want to get there, I want to get there, I want to get there!

Back to a really long post, sorry, but for those of you who are still reading...I hope, that you can see that weight loss isn't just about weighing a certain number. It is about the way you feel about yourself. I cannot remember feeling this happy. I walked into that party feeling confident and beautiful. I walked out feeling confident, beautiful and sexy. What woman doesn't want to feel that way? I am truly happy. I am truly able to say that I love who I am. I am not scared, I am not hiding behind a mask, I am not faking happiness. You can't fake this feeling. This feeling just takes over you. It is sooo worth it!
What a wonderful feeling!

a new decade

VERY proud to announce that with a 1.1kg loss, I am now at 79.5kg, making me a 70s girl! whoop whoop! :)

I pulled out a skirt yesterday. I purchased it when I was 19 or 20 from a clothing party. they didn't have the size to try on, so i guessed i would be a 14. I wasn't. I have kept it all this time, hoping one day I could wear this gorgeous size 14 skirt. At that time it was THE most expensive clothing item I had purchased. So I didn't want to throw it out.

Yesterday, the tags came off.
I wore it to work.
It looked great!
i believe, when I kept looking at myself in the mirror, I looked sexy!
It showed off my figure, my flat stomach, my legs...I couldn't get enough! LOL

WOW! I am looking and feeling great!

2.5kg to goal!
Bring it! :)

City to surf pic

Perth City to Surf 12km

Me in my size 12 lycras! :)
Before the city to surf

I don't have any pics from after the event...I already had my phone down my bra, couldn't fit anything else in! :)
I wish I had more photos, but I am so not used to having my photo taken, I forget about doing it!!!

Perth City to Surf 12k

Well, the Perth City to Surf 2010 12km run was on today, and yes, with 40,000 other people, I went down to the Perth foreshore to start the race!

My plan of attack:
-Run 5km, walk 100m, run 4km, walk 200m, run 3km (just under) to the finish line.
-Run in the middle of the road, where the dotted lines are as there isn't a slope like there is at the edge of the road. Hopefully this will help prevent soreness!
-Enjoy the moment and be proud. Look where I was last year!!!

So...this is what I actually did.
-Ran in the middle of the road, away from any slopes and minimised soreness, however my knee is still sore, along with the heal but I kinda think because they aren't 100% this was going to be worse .
-I loved the whole moment! Well, hills blah...but it was great! They do need to do a lot better in the organisation of things however...A "C" runner is supposed to start 15 minutes before the walkers...but many walkers started with the As. And prams were supposed to be the last to start, yet at the starting line for the C group, i was surrounded by prams!
-I RAN 12KM STRAIGHT!
Can you believe that?

So where was I same time last year?
-108kg
-Attempting to run, could run 100m.
-Prior to the funrun, I Injured my calf in one of my 100m runs, also battered my ankle. Can no longer run 100m.
-I was wearing size 20 track pants and a mans XL shirt, to cover the fact that my track pants were too tight!
-I was wearing 20E bra, with a crop top on top and I had lots of fat rolls because the bra was too small!
-I chaffed. OMG did I chaff. In every single spot you could chaff, I chaffed! Eczema flared up during the run as well, and last for weeks!
-Severely asthmatic

TODAY
-I can run 12km straight.
-I wore size 12 lycra type pants which fit!
-My top was a size 16 because I purchased it a while back and it is my event shirt for step into life. It is incredibly big! I need a size 12 now.
-I wore a size 16DD bra. ONE!
-Soreness, but NO INJURIES. Soreness is due to Jacob's Ladder on Wednesday AND my weak bum!
-Absolutely NO CHAFFING! not in between the legs,  not under my arms where the "nanna's hangers" rub, not where the bra meets (i got a new bra last night, OMG it is just heaven! I had not bounce whatsoever and the rubbing that always happens at the wires and in the middle, wasn't there! WOW!)
-no eczma (i haven't had it all year!)
-I forgot my asthma medication to take with me. Didn't need it once on the run anyway! :)

So all that would explain why i enjoyed the moment! The finish line was awesome to cross!

Photos to come, official time to come too. I think I came in around 1hr 30mins which is what i wanted!

We bought a camera too...so I will post photo updates soon!
And...DH had graduation last night...I had my new purple dress on, and as we left the hotel he said "you look really nice in that dress". Is that a compliment I hear? But there is more...after a wine at a pub, I felt really quite bloated. I said, "oh dear, this dress isn't very good when you eat/drink the wrong thing" he said "What do you mean?" I said "Well, it shows the belly bulge of the bloating" he replied "But you don't have a belly anymore, so there can't be a bulge!"
OMG! What has happened to my husband?! Photo of the dress to come too! :)

I saw the number!

I had Weigh In today. 80.2kg. A drop of 400g! whoop whoop!
Very very happy.
The weigher was new, but not a new weigher, just new to our team.
She said "Oh you are so close to breaking it, never mind!"

Never mind what?
I lost 400g! Whoop whoop!
I will get into the 70s next week, or the week after. This week I lost!
YIPPEE!

I deserved to lose. I have stuck to the program again. But it is so hard now...but that is ok. Look at all my successes these past 4 days. So to actually have another success of losing...YIPPEE!!!!

So then played netball, lost (had an injury of our fill in in the first minute of the game!) and came home, and weighed. Why? Because I wanted to see if i could see the number.

And yes...79.8.
I saw a 7 on the scales when i was on them! I have not seen a 7 as the first number since year 10. When I was 14. 20 years ago! My scales are also 400g HEAVIER then WW. So i say i am 79.4kg. not an official weigh in weight, but i don't care! I saw the 70s!
I started at 107.7...plenty of 7s! But damn that 1 at the front!
But now...i have a 7! Only just, and it is sure to fluctuate many times over the next week. but i saw a 7. it was a glimpse! it was there! it was mine!
70s!
Me! Kylie! 70s!

Well, i can't say miracles happen...this isn't a miracle. miracles just happen. I have worked my arse off for this. that isn't a miracle. This is determination. This is perseverance.  This is ME! A loser???!!! LOL yep! a loser!

Shopping at Harbour Town

DH and I went to Harbour Town in the city today. It is the discount place to shop over here in WA. It isn't very big, and normally I buy sports shoes cos I don't fit into anything else.
But not today.

Today, DH got lots!
And I tried lots too...and got a few things.

Firstly...some sweat bands for my wrists...i need to wipe all the hard work sweat off when I run :)
Running socks. Hopefully they will make me run faster...isn't that why they are running socks?
2 x SIZE 12 New Balance sports tops, for $10 each! BARGAIN! And size 12! How did my boobs ever get into them???

And the BIG ONE! I went to Jeans West to try jeans. After buying size 12 at Target, I thought it would be interesting to see what size I was in the smaller shops. So I picked up the size 14 and 16 jeans to take in to try. I put the 14s on and PERFECT! Great length, great waist comfort, not too low rise (i hate seeing knickers hanging out over jeans!) and just PERFECT so didn't try the 16s. $29.95 too, so bargain, and bought them.

Normal shop, normal size...and still a 14! Over the moon!

Then I got home and retried, as you do. Had a look at the tag...and they aren't a normal size 14.
They are a GIRL'S 14! OMG I am wearing a pair of girls size 14 jeans! I don't think I ever wore a girls size 14 jeans when I was a girl! I only ever remember being a size 14 ladies or higher. And mainly higher! In highschool, size 14 to 16 adult. Primary school, size 14 adult. I had to get highschool skirts for primary school as the junior skirts didn't fit.
Yet now, in my mid 30s, I am fitting into girls clothes...for the FIRST TIME EVER!
WOW!

I also went into a bra shop and got fitted. I have certainly gone down in size A LOT! The lady asked me what size I am now...and had to inform her I have NO idea as my bra's are all too big, except for ones that are 10 years old and i cut the tags off! Why are they 10 years old? Well, i used to have lots of lingerie...I loved it! But I seemed to grow really quickly, so would wear bras for a few months and then need larger size. so whilst 10 years old, not all that worn! Anyway, she asked what size I used to be...and she was in shock! She said that my skin looks amazing for that weight loss, and my youth obviously helps! She thought I was in my 20s! How gorgeous! Unfortunately, all the cheap bras were only in small sizes, so no bras for me today...but I am a size 14 girls jeans! WHOOP WHOOP!

Weigh in is tomorrow, and from the looks of the scales I could have a slight gain. And I don't care still. I haven't done anything wrong...my body is just adjusting to the new weight I am in, and it will just maintain the current weight for a bit until it goes down again. I don't care because my fitness test says I am fit. My clothes size says I am thin. People are saying I am thin. I feel thin! I am not sure if I like what I see in the mirror, all the flabby bits still exist, but just smaller flabby bits. But these smaller flabby bits are a lot more likable then the bigger flabby bits! :)

Fitness Test

Every 2 months Step Into Life run a fitness test.
It is great as you can see your improvements on a regular basis.
So today was the fitness test.

                                                    June                             August
3km run                                     17mins:14secs                16:45
20m Shuttle runs (90secs)               16                             17
Push ups (toe)                                 50                             55
Sit ups                                            69                              64 (what happened?)
Squats                                    5kg:   79                            6kg: 76
Shoulder press                        3kg:   89                           4kg:  67
Plank                                          2:20                               2:30

I did less in the squats and shoulder press, but I also went up in weight. I wasn't too far off either, so not complaining about those results at all!
So the only one I went down in: sit ups. I don't know how that happened, but i have noticed the past few times i have gone for a run, I have been a little sore in my lower abs, like the muscles from having a baby aren't holding up! Or maybe, I am more conscious of holding those abs when I run, whereas before they just "hung out"!

I am over the moon with my run of 16mins 45 secs. i think next time I might be moved up to the 4km run. I was the very first person in too. There is a 2km, 3km and 4km run. So i beat all the 2km people, and the rest of the 3km people! WOO HOO! Now, in saying that, I think there was only 1 2km person and it was his first session with Step Into Life! But there were probably about 6 in the 3km section. Not that it is a race against others, just against our own personal time...but that has NEVER happened to me before...me...FIRST! And I wanted under 17mins...and got there!
So very very happy!

Another happy note! Target has $20 jeans and since my others fall down, I thought I would go buy a new pair. Size 12!!! I cannot believe I have a pair of size 12 jeans. I have a little overhang of the belly rolls, but not a lot! I know target are bigger then levi's or other such brands, but still....size 12! I never used to wear jeans at all because I just looked horrid in them, at size 20!

So a happy weekend for me! :)

What Did That Jolt Do???

It made me lose weight, that is what it did!
Whoop Whoop!!!

I am back to share the news! And yes I lost that 200g I wanted to lose.
But that isn't all!

I lost
1.1kg

Whoop whoop!!! :)

I am obviously pretty happy! I haven't had a big loss like that in a long time. Well, I gained 1.1kg a few weeks ago and then lost that 1.1kg the following week, but I don't see that as a loss. It is just making up for lost ground! This is a true loss of 1kg. A genuine loss.

Finally broke the 81.6kg. I feel like i have been there and back so many times! With all the ups and downs over the past few months I think I worked out that in 10 weeks I have lost 2kg! That includes tonights loss! So a STS or gain would have really gutted me. But I wouldn't have given up. That is not me. Just would have come on here and whinged again!

I am now at 80.6kg. And, after netball and shower, i jumped on my scales just to make sure I wasn't dreaming...and it said 80.1kg...my scales are 400g heavier then WW scales...so does that make me 79.7??? LOL

I know I still have to lose next week again to really confirm the loss, but hopefully that barrier has been at least pushed aside, but prefer broken and I will lose at least 100g!

So what does this 1.1kg accomplish?
LOTS!

  • 25% of my body weight is gone! YAY!
  • I have 700g to lose to get into the 70s! YAY!
  • I have 3.6kg to get to goal! YAY!
  • I was chosen to play Centre tonight because I was the fastest! I was then moved to GA because I was the only who could lead off the centre pass! OK, that has nothing to do with weight loss, but while I am on a high...I will take that brag too!
  • A sense of relief, excitement to get closer to the 70s and a positive attitude. That is a hard one actually, because I am always positive in what I am doing and thinking. If I didn't think that what I was doing was going to help me lose weight, I wouldn't do it, so I do feel that my attitude is positive. But I was feeling deflated in the up down process of it all...but again, I need that over analysis of things to get my head right, or onto a new way of thinking. A change in thinking, that is what it has brought me!

but from that up and down plateau I now figure that I maintained that weight for about 2 months, so surely that means I can indeed maintain. So when I get to goal weight, yes it will be hard, but I know I can achieve! :)

So happy happy happy on my side of the world...hope everyone else is doing well and WI gives good, no GREAT results! :)

Tonight!

Weigh in is tonight. At the moment...I am under last weeks weight, JUST. But I have discovered that I can fluctuate in weight up to 3kg in a day!
So crossing fingers that I come under. I would like a 200g loss...going big this week LOL. This would take off the 100g gain from last week, and, give me a 100g loss for this week!

Exercise on the weekend.
Got up nice and early on Saturday to go to kickboxing class. Last time I did kickboxing I got dizzy again. So a little bit nervous about going, but I wanted a really good cardio workout. I was partnered up with a girl who is a bit of a girly girl (sorry girls out there, but in kickboxing, you gotta punch!). I actually thought this would be good because I knew I didn't want to push myself too hard and I would come down a little bit closer to her level.

Well, "miss competitive" (LOL, Deb, you remembered!) can't not push herself. So I went gun ho as per normal. The girly girl actually punches now. She can actually put a fair bit of weight into her punch, not bad for someone who weighs about 50kg! She is a tiny thing! So if she can punch, she can take my punches and kicks. Of course we do have the pads so i wasn't actually kicking and punching her directly!!!
We did a lot of running, and I actually wanted to go faster, but the group was too big and too hard to get around. But I punched hard and fast, I ran fast, I did everything, I got my heart rate up to 190 and I didn't get dizzy!

Unfortunately Sunday morning I woke up with a really sore neck. I slept on it wrong...bloody sleep, more injuries from sleep then sport! so I didn't do any exercise yesterday, however I really managed my food.

I made the WW magazine Rice noodle and chilli jam, but I altered it. I used Tom Yum paste instead of chilli jam, added more vegetables in it including brocolli, and I also added chicken as the tofu was hot and there is noway DD is eating too hot a food. I took her food out before adding the tofu. We all LOVED it! It was so nice. In the magazine it was 3 points per serve, but with the chicken it came to 5 points.
so strongly recommend that dish to cook! Lucky me I have left overs for lunch!

So that is it.
Lets hope for a loss tonight! :) I have done the program so I should have a loss!

J's Ladder defeated...5 times!

Thank you all to your supportive replies.

I know I have to stay positive, I will break the barrier, it is just sooooo frustrating! It really is bothering me. It doesn't stop me being proud of my achievements to date, and I look fit and healthy and little bit sexy (hehehe) so of course I am happy. And I know I am now a happy person. But I want that goal!

Jacob's Ladder.

(Same pic for those who didn't see it last time)
What can I say.
IT IS HARD! REALLY HARD!
I walked the first one down and up. I jogged the second one down and half way up. OUCH! My legs were going to die.
I then walked the third and that was the hardest of all.
I had a goal of 5, and I continued to that magical number. Surprisingly, the 5th was the easiest. I was tempted to do a 6th, but it was late, and i knew if i did 6 this time, next time i was required to do 7!

What did I learn?
-That I am not as fit as I thought I was!
-That there are some really freaky people out there. OMG are they fit! They can run up and down up and down skipping 2 or 3 steps at a time...FREAKS!
-That my child is nowhere near as disciplined as others. there was a 3 year old "doing it" with her father, he was one of the freaky ones, and she did it slow and steady by herself. waited at the bottom for him and i couldnt stop thinking that my child would have ran...and not up and down the ladder, but AWAY! Thankfully the girl only did 1 and 1/2 laps, i would have been embarrassed to be beaten by a toddler!
-Good shoes are worth every cent!
-DOMS suck! Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness. It happens 24 - 48 hours after exercise. So I woke up today with the tightest, sorest calf muscles. OUCH!

I also had a big shock yesterday! Jumped on scales, to see 85.1kg! OMG! just as i jolt my body with the ladder, and I have stuck to the plan the past few days, my weight goes up that much?! I just about cried.

This morning I had to see if I was still there, but back to 81.6kg. PHEW! How much can your body change???
And the reason...TTOM. Hit me this morning so had a lot of excess bloating the past 2 days. Thank goodness! I was scared! REALLY scared! to go up that much and stay there, i think that would have ended it for me!

Anyway, enough...I did Jacob's Ladder. Now for the 6x return! :)

Natural body weight?

I shouldn't be bummed about a mere 100g gain. But it got me thinking...

I remember reading somewhere, researchers/experts/nutritionist whoever it was, saying that each of us has an ideal weight. A weight our body is just naturally supposed to be. When you try to go below this weight, it is hard to stay below, hard to maintain and requires too much work to stay there. Your body wants to go back to its natural weight and will get back there.
What is that weight? How do you know what that weight is? Would this natural weight be in your healthy BMI?

I haven't weighed this weight for an incredibly long time. I stopped weighing myself when I was in year 10, health. We had to weigh ourselves...no...other people had to weigh you. How f'n horrible for someone who knows they are overweight. To have someone else weigh you, and call it out to the recorder and of course EVERYONE can hear! From memory, in year 10 1990- 14 years old, I weighed high 70s.

14 years later, I had to be weighed again, I went in to see the anesthetist for my knee reconstruction. I cried when I saw 110kg. He sympathised with me. He reassured me that when you do your knee, you CAN'T exercise so of course you are going to put on weight. You can't control it. I did my knee in 2000, well partially...I tore it. Then in 2002 I ripped it apart. No sport, no exercise possible. But come on: I was always fat. I was fat before my injury, I was fat before my year 10 weigh in. Infact I was always obese.

004= knee reconstruction. Immediately after, my weight went higher. I think around 115kg. i never weighed myself. I joined the gym to help with my recovery. over 18 months of just focusing on exercising, i got down to about 95kg. That was the smallest i had been since maybe 1998. That was the smallest my husband had ever seen me. We got married in 2004, so he only knew me 100kg+.
Then I quit the gym as we moved house and got a bigger mortgage, and then fell pregnant. I was 101kg when I first weighed in at 10weeks pregnant.
That was in 2007.
Child born, I weighed 104kg.
yes only 3kg put on during my pregnancy...one good thing about vomiting for 39weeks!

Started WW November 2009, weighing 107.7kg. The first time I had weighed since giving birth.

The first 20kg really flew off. They were easy to lose.
I know everyone struggles as they get closer to goal so I shouldn't see myself as being the only one who is going through this. But most people have a goal weight that is in their Healthy BMI. WW sets it in there.
My leader set mine above my healthy BMI. 77 kg. BMI approx 27. I should have a goal weight of 72kg to get me to healthy.

but I am struggling 10kg out from HEALTHY BMI, that is NOT close to goal! Is it possible my natural body weight is meant to be overweight?
My dr once told me that I should aim to get to 72kg. But I will be happy somewhere between 72 - 85kg. That is a massive difference.
But is he right? Is 81/82 my happy zone? My natural zone?
Not being smaller then this, I just don't know.
I would like to think not...but...can you fight what your body wants?
What if 77kg is unattainable, yet i am wanting 72kg?

How do you know your natural body weight?
And how do I jolt my body to just bloody lose this weight! I would so dearly love to get to the 70s. or even to my 25% (80.7kg). It would be so nice!
I know I am sick of the up/down results I keep getting each week. I would happily take 100g LOSS each week. But i am up one week, down one week, up, down, up, down...i would prefer small losses to anything else!

I am sure if there were answers, we would all be at goal weight! so i guess this is more rhetorical then anything!

But, for now while my questions go unanswered...I have made a promise to myself that tomorrow I am leaving work at 4pm to go to Jacob's Ladder in Perth. It is my first go at it, and I want to do 5 sets. It is 43 m long, with just under 300 steps.
Jacob's Ladder: Kings Park Perth

300 steps up, 300 steps down...5 x...just like my weight...hopefully that will jolt the body...i can take it as punishment for my up/down journey the past 4 months...and because I never want to do that again, I will do everything to stay off that ladder which means LOSE LOSE LOSE! or i see it as a training session for the city to surf, and i am doing it because of training, not to impact on my weight loss. Therefore I must put my heart and soul into the plan, doing the program, living the program, but I do feel I do that mostly!
aaargh...the mostly kills it doesn't it?!

Thanks for the PHOTO Deb!

WOW! A huge thank you to Deb (diminishingdebbie.blogspot.com/) for sending me the photo of us together when she came to Perth.

This was only 2 weeks ago, and it was when I had lost 26.1kg - 4.6kg from goal.

I LOVE the photo! I have tried to post on your blog Deb, but of course, it STILL won't let me!
I just look at it, and I cannot believe it is me! I look at that  compared with the one of me in Bali...and my boobs are shrinking which is a GREAT thing!! I have a strong jaw line, i have a lovely neck and collar bone. Even though I have sleeves on, you can see that my arms have reduced, particularly from the photo of my friend and I in 2008 when I weighed around 105kg.

What a difference! I actually think I look pretty. I think I look attractive!

Even my hair! To me, you can tell that I actually care and take pride in my appearance now. I do take the time to straighten my hair, put on make up and wear nice clothes (that I can now fit into of course!). But I really want to look nice because I FEEL nice!

This of course is wonderful! I don't know if seeing such a lovely photo of me is going to help me get over this mindset of being happy and comfortable at where I am!

On the strange side...I lost 1.1kg tonight. The exact amount I gained last week. I am normally never a week behind with my weight loss. If I eat crap, I pay for it that week. So last week I was great, and gain. This week I ate crap, and I lose. Go figure!
But...I am now weighing less then my aunty who I have always thought of as thin and my hot aunt! She has put on weight, and is going to a WW meeting on thursday to do something about it, but she doesn't look big! So I am skinnier then someone I have always admired! That is nice. And because I am only just smaller...I am hoping that maybe I will see this as a bit of a competition. I am a competitive person, and I do compare myself to others. I think we all do, whether we like to admit it or not! so having her at pretty much the same as me, may just motivate me to keep going...I don't like to be beaten after all! I know a lot of you will tut tut that attitude. But well, competition might work for me! It has in other aspects of my life, so why not with weight loss? We can push each other!

Once again, BIG thanks DEB for the awesome photo! Look how happy we both are! We are happy with ourselves!

bad week

When you have a gain, and a big one...you should do everything in your power to get rid of that gain and then some right? Well, you would think so!

I gained 1.1kg last Monday. That was MORE gained, then I had lost in 2 weeks.
So I started off full of determination to lose it. To lose 1.5kg. That was my goal.

So then what happened?

We had pizza Wednesday night. Can't remember Thursday. Friday? I did track, so I could find out, but I don't want to...it is a bit sad! Saturday I was going really well. Had my cousins over and they are bad eaters so we were doing hotdogs. Not me...i was having a steak sandwich with egg and salad. It would take me to 21 points, and i have 23 points allocated.
So all should be good!
But the steak sandwich was soooo good. so i had 2. And the second one wasn't on wholegrain thinly sliced toasted bread. No it was on a large WHITE roll. I never eat white bread! Even before WW...I hate it! But it was good last night.
Then, icecream. I don't eat icecream often. DD and DH have it, but they eat in the kitchen and I stay in the lounge. I don't see it, smell it, need it if it is not near me.
but yesterday...they ate in the lounge. I had to have some. I did. Thankfully, it was the light cadburys stuff. 0.5 points per serve. The serving size wasn't measured. So how many points??

then today...new day, my running day. still had the cousins over so was waiting for their mum to come get them. Of course, that didn't happen until late and they left after 12. Lunch: left over sausages and bun (i did so good yesterday not to have it...then what?)
DH had to go help his mum move all his grandma's stuff out of her house (moved into a home) so then he left and I can't take DD running! Then my sister came over and she left at 5.30. I had to clean up a whole heap of stuff as I had gone through all DDs baby stuff to give to my sister. So it was after 6pm, and dinner? We eat at 6! We were all starving, had to go to shops to get some vegetables...too hard and wouldn't be eating until after 7!
So what did we have???
Chicken treat...chicken and chips. 17 points in one meal!
Another day over!

So when is weigh in?  Tomorrow.
1.1kg gone? NOWAY! Will i get a loss? Not at this rate!
I did express that I would be going for a run in the morning, to counteract the chicken treat. but i fear my lack of care this week...has wounded the scales big time!

I think my lack of care has come from 2 things

ONE: when I tried really hard and stayed on track, I gained 1.1kg. So if I am going to gain anyway, I may as well eat the stuff that will make a gain worth it.
Sad really. Really sad.

TWO: I feel and look good (with clothes on I must stress) at my current weight. I am complacent because I feel comfortable and happy. I fit into size 12 or size 14. And I get a lot of compliments. I even got one from a student on friday: "Mrs V...I just wanted to tell you, that you are looking good. Really good. I just thought you should know that you look GOOD!" Wow! What 12 year old boy says that, without a snicker? He was being sincere. You can tell with that age! It was great. Then a parent said almost the same thing. On Wednesday two of my ex students came for a visit, and they commented on how good I looked. My old principal didn't recognise me when I went to visit the staffroom. 20 minutes he stared at me, wondering who it was. Then, in the middle of a speech, he called out across the room "Oh my god, it's Kylie. WOW! You look....WOW" Why lose more weight when you hear that? Feel like that? What is the incentive? I know: my health. but i am healthy - results are there. I am fit. I can't use that for my motivation anymore. Even though I am still overweight, I don't have diabetes and I am not at risk. Asthma is very limited and only struggling when I run due to the coldness. I don't have eczema anymore. Blood pressure normal. Cholesterol normal. Very low risk of heart disease. I am the fittest person I know, outside of my training group, and even with them...I am right up there for fitness. My only health issue is my thyroid problem, and that is a reason why I gain weight, not because of my weight!

Rewards aren't working as motivation either. I would love to get to Melbourne, my goal reward...but even that...just isn't working.
I am doing a challenge on the WW forum. I am not motivated. I post in, I see my loss, I see my gain...big deal. I am not challenged!

I just don't know. Anyone got an idea of what I can do to get me wanting to get into the 70s? The obvious isn't there...so I need something more! What is going to wake me up? Being fat isn't waking me up! I do want to get to goal. But I am happy not at goal.

Sad really.  Really sad! :(

Time for everyone to be jealous!

Because I met DEB today! and her husband Ian!

As soon as she was walking towards me, I knew who it was...she looks just like the thin pictures on her blog...and she looks GREAT!
My DD decided to be a little terror...I think Deb now knows that my running has been spurred on by chasing her around the shops...but Deb was soooo patient with her!
It was so great to meet, have skinny coffees, talk teaching, and have a chat about whatever! All the time, Ian went shopping! Lucky Deb having a hubby that loves to shop! Deb is so wonderful, very positive person and very supportive...certainly knows what she is doing in terms of weight loss! A positive approach to life really! :) I hope some her rubs off on me!

I am so grateful that you gave up some of your holiday time to meet Deb! It was lovely meeting and I hope you have a wonderful time in Perth and love Margaret River as much as I do!

And good news...Ian took a photo of us together, to an update photo will be on Debs blog soon, and a catch up photo too! Thank you Ian!

So everyone can be jealous because I had a great arvo meeting Deb, and couldn't ask for a better WW/Blogging friend! Although I know all of us are wonderful! :)

A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

Well, last night I decided to do the whole dinner spread thing. DH finished painting the dining room (and no paint smell) and it looks fantastic! A green feature wall with a soft mushroomy colour on the others. We have jarrah floorboards, a jarrah table and the same green placements, so all looks gorgeous!
So we had tacos so everything spread on the table, and we turned the lights off and had candles on.
It was beautiful! DD loved it because she knew she was able to blow the candles out when we finished eating, and DH stayed in the dining room until we had all finished, not just when he had finished. Normally he rushes out to get the dishes done, but I think it is nice to stay for the last person to finish, which I always do!

Yesterday also saw me do Kickboxing in the morning. Mornings are a real killer on the asthma but I did really well. Slowed down the pace to normal so I wouldn't get dizzy, but my partner was excellent and still pushed me! We were always the first pair finished (not that finish means finish...it means fast punches until everyone catches up) and we really pushed the muscles, especially in the ab workout.

DH, DD and I then all headed off to the zoo.Walked around, took DD on the carousel...onto the black horse which is her favourite! We had a great time! I love the zoo! DH even bought something at the shop for DD...doesn't happen very often. Each time we go we are going to get 2 zoo letters of her name and put on her door. Not too long a name, but gives us a reason to keep going back! :)

Today I went for a run. Knee and achilles are doing so well with my new shoes. I did the freeway (or highway...i can't remember) to 10k, week 5...which consists of 6 x 7min runs with 1 minute intervals. I did really well because I did the hill route I often take, but haven't in a long time due to the knee and achilles. NO PAIN so really happy! And can now really start the training for the city to surf.

We then took DD for a bike ride. The actual ride was only about 20 minutes...and my legs felt all 20 minutes of it! But we actually spent about 2 hours out as we went to 2 playgrounds on the ride.
I am quite surprised how much time DH is spending with us! He actually wants to be around us, doesn't grizzle that he is spending family time with us, and he enjoys it! with no more study, and a job that doesn't require out of hours work, he must be bored! LOL
today i noticed that his patience is worse then mine though. I normally lose the plot with DD by the afternoon, after spending all day with her and her moods...2 1/2 years of age...you know what I mean! He only spent about 2 hours with her today by himself, while I did some much needed work for school...and the plot was lost about 5 times! Glad it isn't just me!

I also took the dog for a 20 minute walk today...nice to finish the afternoon off getting out. I spent way too long marking...and I have to spend a bit of work tonight organising a program. Tomorrow I will spending time on planning lessons. So busy busy busy! So I really wanted that extra time for me.

Had a yummy dinner of satay beef with lots of vegies and a little rice. I am now right on my points allocation, without going into my exercise points. The past 3 days I have been slightly over my points, but have had the exercise points to allow for it. So I really wanted to stick to points today.

Scales are not being as kind as I thought they would be. I have really done well this week with exercise (I am doing it!) and not snacking or shoving chocolate down my throat. I really thought a +1kg loss would be well and truly achievable. But I think maybe a 200g loss is probably more likely! A loss is a loss, I know I know...BUT!

On a final note...I cannot wait until FRIDAY! I get to meet Deb, from Diminishing Deb. I am so excited to meet a fellow WW! Meeting at a shopping mall, so maybe throw in a bit of shopping and of course coffee! I hope she loves Perth! We are having REALLY cold weather Deb, so I hope you have some warm clothes to wear...and considering you are coming from Singapore...it will be twice as bad for you! thankfully we are having some really beautiful sunny days...so hopefully you will get to enjoy the river a bit while you are here! :) I am so looking forward to Friday! :)

Hope everyone is tracking, exercising, and being good to themselves!

I feel sexy!

Well, I got up this morning, ready to take DD to Oma's. What to wear???
Running clothes, then I will go for a run.
Hmmm...but i want to go to the shops and don't want to look like that. I used to always wear trackies to cover up and looked frumpy...i want to look nice! :)

So I put on my new dress...did I mention I got some new clothes?
I went to Jeans West on Tuesday and saw this gorgeous black dress from $69.95 to $22.50. I had to try it on, size 14...size 12 PERFECT! So of course I bought it, and I am wearing it now. If I do say so myself, I look DAMN sexy! I tried to take some pics on my phone...but they didn't work out.

I don't really remember wearing sexy clothes, or feeling sexy. But today, I do.

so what am I doing with my sexiness?
I just invited my husband out for lunch. And Mr Scrooge, said yes! So I am having a hot date with my husband! For an hour! :)

I also got a dress from a party plan "Veducci" ordered quite a few months ago. Very expensive and PURPLE! I always wear black...so PURPLE! WOW! It arrived yesterday and I tried it on...WOW! Again SEXY!
I have decided that I will wear that on the day I achieve goal. It is very flattering to bust and stomach. It is just gorgeous! I will also wear it to DHs graduation...on the 28th August...

So as of today, i am setting a time for when I would like to be at goal. 28th August. I have 5.1kg to go...it will be tough...but I think at this point in time...setting a goal like that, is probably quite helpful. It will really help me focus, stay on track and push myself.

I love feeling sexy...and I can only get sexier! :)

A desperate REFOCUS!

I looked at my training journal and old WW journal and had a few eye opening moments!

-I am not tracking 100% everything that enters my mouth.
-I am not goal setting
-I am not blogging as often
-I am not posting as often
-I am not writing down all my exercise
-I am not exercising as often
-I am not wearing my pedometer
-I am not acknowledging my moods when i snack/exercise etc
-I have been stressed and moodier and patience is zilch! especially with DD.
-I am just settling at the moment. I am not trying.

I lost 500g last week. That is great, don't get me wrong. But you know what...what would it be if I did all of the above?
I know that I wold not be stressed/moody and I wouldn't yell at my DD over the little things she does!
I am on holidays and I am stressed? WHY? Because I let go of my most important thing...ME.
I stopped caring about ME.

So what have I done to change this?
-I am waiting for a journal from WW but in the meantime, I am tracking online, which i don't like, but it is better then nothing.
-I have my pedometer on!
-I am using the treadmill that we have had for years and I haven't touched in over a year. I like running outdoors. It is too cold and more importantly too dark to go outdoors. So instead of making excuses...I am using it!
-The past 2 days I have been happier and relaxed...so acknowledging my moods! And not snacking...not needed!
-I have posted on WW more.  The spring into spring challenge is helping me stay focused!
-I have written in detail my exercise.
-I measured on Monday, but results weren't great. But they were what I needed to get the exercise up!
-I set a goal for 2 treadmill sessions a week. I have been on the treadmill 3x this week!
-No more excuses!

I bought an expensive pair of shoes to help my sore knee/Achilles...and OMG are they making a difference! So now when I run, I have no knee/achilles pain. I can run pain free! So now I can build up my fitness level again!
I can and will go on the treadmill when it is too dark to go outdoors.
I have signed up for the 12km City to Surf so I MUST TRAIN!

My main goals this week:
*treadmill twice a week (DONE)
*Track everything
*Wear my Pedometer

Simple things to do...but so achievable and what a difference it will make! I am aiming for a 1kg loss this week. I can do this! The refocus will get me there! :)

my first no weigh in out of choice!

I had WI last night, but for the first time I didn't go. I haven't been due to public holidays (which I always try to go to another one) or when I went to Bali, but in 8 months, I have pretty much gone to EVERY weigh in.

But, in one week I had gained over 2kg! Holy cow, how does one do that?
I went to Augusta and visited my parents. Mum is an amazing but terrible cook. Amazing because it is just beautiful food. Terrible because a. the plate is covered with no gaps and piled high. b. Every thing is cooked with full fat this and that, and oil oil oil. Yes  my parents are quite big too.
And I had to have wine. I didn't HAVE to, but I chose to because I don't drink too often and i wanted to.

But I did choose to eat the entirety of my plate, knowing how fattening it was. I chose to drink wine, eat cheese and crackers and do very little exercise (well the cold weather did play a contributing part in that!).

But it also didn't happen in just one weekend.

Last week I ate bad. I exercised ZILCH! I had a crap week.

So last night, knowing my fate, and not wanting an official glitch on my 25kg loss, I didn't go.
I had a 6.30 netball game so I was only going to weigh in.

For the past 6 or so weeks, I have been to the meetings ONCE, thanks to netball.  I am sick of paying $60/month for WW, plus $8 each week for netball game, and ONLY getting a weigh in and then leave for the game.
No wonder I am gaining - losing - gaining - losing etc. I am not an expert in weight loss. I need support. I need to be at meetings. I need help losing weight. And I need more help maintaining!

So after our netball game, found out we had yet another 6.30 game next week. So I told the team if we had a full team I wouldn't be coming. OMG did they chuck it. "We are playing the top team and need you." Well, quite frankly, I don't get to go in the position I am best at now that someone else returned the team. I am the "everywhere" girl, whoever is off, I go in their spot. I am getting a little over it. I would like to play my spot at least one quarter a game. I play it well, and I make a difference to the team. So being an everywhere girl, I feel like I can be missed.
And I am sick of missing my meetings.

so after trying hard to get me to change my mind, they asked about changing the time, and not a problem! So it has now been moved to the next time which means I can do both! YAY! I feel much better now. I am not going to miss out on my meetings anymore. Whenever there is a 6.30 time, I am not going to play. Unless that means we would be short.

I truly need support. I actually found losing the first 20kg really easy. It really did drop off with the changes I had made. I wasn't craving anything, I still treated myself but I was careful. The last 5kg has taken forever. I treat myself too much, I crave lots and once I start I can't stop. I need support! I thought I had my eating under wraps. But it has taken about 3 months to lose 5kg. 5 months to lose 20kg! I know it slows down the closer to goal you get, but that has nothing to do with it. This is me not being in control of the eating. Plain and simple. So meetings meetings meetings, talking about food, exercise, listening to others and what they have done. That is what I need. And that is what I will get.

I want to get to goal. I have 5.6kg to go. I don't want it to take another 3 months. If it does take that long, so be it. But so long as I am doing what I can to lose it. At the moment I am not doing what I can to lose it. That isn't good enough.
Am I being tough on myself? YES. I need to be tough on myself because last week was a pitiful effort and it needs to end.
And END it does!

post problems

Hi everyone
I have tried to reply to a few people in their blogs and for whatever reason...i can't. It just freezes on me and i can't make any personal messages.

Deb, when are you in perth? would love to catch up with you if you have a free moment! You have been so supportive in blogging world, and really helped me along, would love to meet you in person! :)

Everyone is doing so well, not giving up despite the many things that life throws at them!
Keep up the good work everyone! :)

25.1kg lighter!

Well it is official!

I have now lost 25.1kg, thanks to my 1.2kg loss today! 25kg GONE!

My leader wants me to go for slimmer of the year. Is desperate for me to go. But i gave her the sad news that I still had around about 6kg to go to goal and next month you have to be at goal. She asked me my weight and I said around 83kg (it was before weigh in).
She just looked at me and said "No, you are much lighter then that, you would be in the 70s now, very close to goal!"
WOW! Unfortunately wrong...but nice to hear that someone who is obviously very aware of size thinks that i am actually thin!
I felt really quite pleased after that!
Then I weighed in, lost my 1.2kg which has brought me down to 82.6kg. WOW! I wore my size 12 running pants, so I think that helped. I felt good wearing them, and the scales knew it! Having the positive vibe going through my feet to the weighing thingy...always a good thing!

Unfortunately I couldn't stay for the meeting to collect my star as I had netball. Our whole team had an absolutely crap night, and we lost to a team with only 6 players, by about 15 goals! Very sad!
And worse...my shoulder went again. I am supposed to be doing work now, planning those all important lessons for tomorrow. But alas, my shoulder is so sore all I want to do is whinge about it being so sore! The pain is even going down my arm and into my thumb! Lucky you only use your thumb for the space bar, or I would be buggered!

But anyway, absolutely over the moon with my loss...now to maintain it for this week, and maybe a small loss? I am off to Augusta this weekend, where my parents are. It will be hard, because there are also wineries. And i like to have a drink with my parents! But will really have to show self control.

And to add to my fitness achievements from Saturday...here are a few more achievements.

1. I have dropped 2 bra sizes in back and cup!
2. I fit into size 12, but I am a 14. Not bad for a tight size 20 in November 2009!
3. My students think I am "normal" when discussing body and weight. (We are studying that in Health)
4. I am well and truly away from the obese BMI. Happily sitting in the overweight category!
5. My DH actually seems attracted to my body.
6. When my DD wants to have see saws on my leg...i can actually do it, without getting puffed or my legs hurting, or the inner thighs rubbing too much!
7. I am confident to wear a dress! And I look good in it!
8. I am fitter then my dog!
9. People who haven't seen me in awhile have taken a triple look to see if it is actually me!
10. I look younger. I feel younger...my body is younger!
11. When I hang my knickers out on the line, they only take up a REALLY small part of the line, not the whole length! :)
12. Clothes are now cheaper because I don't have to pay for the excessive amount of material required to cover the excessive amount fat that was on my body, which only excessively expensive and "exclusive" (and highly embarrassing to be in there) shops carry.
13. I don't feel like the FAT MUM at the park, library, play centre!
14. On our 4 seater couch, I now only take up 1/2 of one seat...not taking up 1 1/2!
15. I am happy!

Do I need to go on?!!!

Fitness Test Results

I did it. And I did well!
                                April                        June
3km Run                  17mins 40 secs        17 mins 14 secs
90 sec sprint laps     16                           16 (but with a few seconds to spare)
Squats 5kg weights   74                           79
Sit ups                      60 (i think)              70
Shoulder Press 3kg   81                           89
Toe push ups             35                           50
THE PLANK           2 mins 10 secs          2 mins 20 secs

This is from what I remember...a few might be wrong but bloody close!

I am disappointed in my run. Although I know I came in faster, in 2 months I thought I would take more then 26seconds off. And I had to walk some because my knee and my asthma were killing me.
In 2 months time I would like to be closer to 16mins and 30secs.
I am also a little disappointed with the plank. I should have done better but I will blame the shoulder for that one! It was the last thing we did and after push ups and shoulder press, my arms were dead but my shoulder, i could really feel it! and it just hurt doing the plank!

I am over the moon with my push ups. In February I couldn't do ANY toe push ups. Now 50! Woo hoo!!! :)
Next time my main goal is probably to improve my run as mentioned, and get to 17 on the 90sec sprint laps. For those, we have 90secs to see how many laps we can do of about 10 or 15 metres. It is really hard!
I would really like to have a go at the beep test. see how i would do in that. I think ok!

But for now, I am really happy i didn't wimp out of the test. I am more then happy I had improvements in all areas. AND I am off to watch The A Team tonight.
So since I am having a latish night, better have a nanna nap to rejuvenate me for later! :)

AWOL

I went AWOL this week.
I gained 200g. It isn't a lot I know. But I was annoyed.
Every other gain, I have assessed it, and realised where I went wrong and decided I thoroughly deserved it and I should be grateful it was ONLY that much.
This is the lowest amount that I have gained, and I am more peeved then ever.
I did the program. I don't know what went wrong.
So I have been moody this week and not in the right space to blog.

But then today arrived.

After supervising I went to the shops. There was a hair straightening iron that was dirt cheap that I wanted and I never spend money on girlie stuff so thought stuff it, it is MINE!
Then I also picked up a waterproof jacket for running.
Then I also picked up a pair of size 12 running pants in the dry material a little tight but i wore them for a run this evening and they were comfy...just had a bit of a muffin top which my jacket will cover :)
I also picked up a knitted tunic dress.
I also picked up a pair of really cheap fake conversy style of shoes.

All of this: $90.

So now I am happy!

And I jumped on the scales and in the evening, about half an hour after I would normally weigh on a Monday, I was 1.5kg DOWN! I know it isn't going to last, but the loss will last. I will make sure of it!

So with some retail therapy (which is much cheaper then a psych!) I have got myself out of that mood and now I am happy!

I have a fitness test tomorrow. I have been thinking I wouldn't do it this week, I have got a really sore shoulder so don't know if i could do the weights. I haven't been running a lot so i don't think I can beat my time. I did really well in the sprints last time and KNOW i can't beat that. And with the dizziness etc, i haven't been doing kickboxing so I know I am just not going to improve.
So thought I wouldn't do it.
What a cop out that would be!
So what if I don't improve. Then I know I have to work hard to get back to where I was and more so! And for me to make excuses like that... "Ouch, my shoulder...oooh i feel dizzy"...PLEASE! Toughen up princess and do the damn fitness test!

So I am doing the fitness test tomorrow...and I will be proud of what I do, better or worse, because I am overcoming things that are uncontrollable for me, it may not be easy, but it is happening!
So results to be posted sometime on the weekend!

Hope everyone is well, staying warm (OMG it is soooo icy over here and my house is 5 degrees colder then outside!) and losing weight and staying fit! :)

What is that?

I was laying in bed last night, on my back. My hand was resting on the top of my leg, just to the side.
I could feel something I have NEVER felt before.

I had...
A HIP Bone!
OMG I have a hip bone!

It feels so good to have a hip bone, not a squishy podgy spot.
I remember when i had my knee operation, doing physio...the physio would prod and poke me to find a certain spot on my hip to be able to measure the angle for my leg and knee when it was straight or bent (all very technically stated then!) but he literally had to prod and poke because the fat just consumed his finger.

But now...you can feel it just by resting your hand there. No need to prod poke. it is just there.

Sorry if this sounded like a bit of a rude post to start with...but no...just me happy I have a hip bone!
I also discovered that i have ONE bum, I used to have a few! and that my one bum has quite a nice shape to it!

Oh how my body is changing!
I love it!!!

3 in a row!

I had a 900g loss tonight! That is 3 losses in 3 weeks! YAY! Back on track!
I am now 83.6! How exciting. I am really really close to 25kg loss (another 900g) and so so close to the 70s!

At netball, we got new shirts. I actually had the confidence to take my old top off and put the new one on, in front of whoever! I did have my sports bra and a crop top on...but still, i wasn't ashamed of showing off, or feeling like I need to hide, my tummy!
My aunty plays, and she came up to me and said she hadn't seen someone with such a flat stomach!
WOW!
I have a secret on the flat stomach though...It is all tucked in the knickers! :-P

Even at fitball on Saturday (skipped on my kickboxing), when i was doing crunches, I couldn't believe how flat my stomach looked, even during the crunch! And I think you can actually see the makings of a 6 pack.

The keg is gone everybody!!!
Now to get it looking that good when I am naked!

So 6.6kg to go until goal...I am getting there! I am doing it! :)

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

a quickie! well for me!

Had my weigh in tonight at different venue.
I lost...300g...so the exercise that i have done over the past few days certainly worked on those ferrero rocheres. I actually thought I would get 500g...but hey...i ate 50 of those things (75 points worth) in one week! I did earn about 80 bonus points for the week, so I don't think a gain was deserved...so when I think about it...300g is great!
Takes me up to a total of 23.2kg lost in 30 weeks.

Wow! I am doing this!
I have 7.5kg to go until WW goal!
WOW! This is happening!

And yep...will not let anything stop me. Thyroid problems can be beaten...as frustrating as it might be, I can do stuff that wont send me into a spin! Sore knees/Achilles...I can still walk! Nothing will stop me! :)

Food wise...how great is the slow cooker for some lean meat, vegetables, vegetables, vegetables and some spices. hmmmm yummo! And very few points and warms up the body, just what is needed on these cold nights!

I am now off to do reports. 7.30 to 6 day today, followed by WI then home to say goodnight to DD and back to report writing. Man I hate this time of year. Only one worse time...about week 7 of term 4...when reports rear their ugly head...AGAIN!
Love my job, just not this part of it! :)

Monday, June 7, 2010

whoa! I am FIT! :)

First up...NO Weigh In today as public holiday. Am heading out tomorrow night to another meeting so will post new results tomorrow night.

So now...why am I fit?
Because....
Saturday I did kickboxing. I did think I was going to die, because of my damn thyroid kicking in...or not kicking in! I got really dizzy.
So to make up for that, i went jogging with the dog on Sat evening.  Dog almost died though!

then yesterday I did some jogging and walking around the usual lake. I had to walk because while I could have continued, my knee absolutely killed. I am not sure what is going on there...and it is the one that didn't have the operation! I am thinking my shoes are shite and I probably need some good ones! that will take awhile to get though!
Anyway, I also did some sit ups/pushups/tricep dips. squats/step ups...blah blah blah...and I powered through them all.

Then in the afternoon I took the dog for a walk.
then this morning I went back to the lake and did 6 laps of it, just walking. 1.6km each lap...you do the maths! Again, I took the dog...again he nearly died! So I feel like I did some strength training at the same time as I had to drag his 40kg butt around the lake for the last 2 laps!

then...oh the list goes on...
I had netball tonight. i played GA for the first half, ran ran ran...then Centre for the second half. The girl I played on was huffing and puffing the whole quarter, and I wasn't! She then went elsewhere for the last quarter, and I kept going...still not stuffed!
I was then asked to play a second game...so I did! I only played WD but the team i filled in for only had 6 players, so had to do a lot of running to make up for being short.

AND I still played well! both games I got the votes for fairest and best! OMG!
Skinny Kylie (I still love the sound of that!) is FIT! Fit I tell you...FIT!!!

I feel so good!
hopefully done enough to work of the ferreros! I am sure I have! This morning my waist line was 89.5cm (it isn't there now, but i did eat not so long ago!).

Now I must rest...sore heal/achilles (really not sure what is going on there but it has been about 4 weeks now) and my body is just tired. Exercise does that to you!

But I  need to organise my maths lesson for tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is feeling as great as me! I am feeling so buzzed...so energetic. So WOW!!!
And still no battery recharger...I will get some skinny Kylie photos up soon!

Friday, June 4, 2010

I have had another bad week. And yup...followed a good loss! Why am I doing it? My student teacher that I was supervising got me this massive tray of ferrerro rocheres...and all but 2 are gone, in 1 week. I started to have one a day, but then I just wanted them gone. so i started eating a few at a time...a few turned into a lot. and now i only have two left. but at least once they are gone, they are GONE! I don't like chocolate in my house. it does not belong in my house. dark chocolate is welcome, because I HATE it and I won't touch it. Any other chocolate, is not welcome!

I almost died at kickboxing today. well, maybe not quite died, but felt dizzy and horrid again. had to slow down. I thought my heart was about to jump out my mouth! I really took it down 10 notches, then once recovered, only went up 1 notch. Within 1 minute my heart rate went from 120 to 170. and i barely did anything to get it there! OMG this thyroid thing is really going to be the death of me! I hate it! I hate not being able to do the things that I know I am capable of and the things I really want to do. It used to be my weight stopping me...then I could do it all! Now, I am back to struggling, but not because I am fat...I am skinny Kylie after all ( *_* )!!!

even now, I have so much work to do, reports are due Friday, I haven't started. And once I am off here, I am napping. I am dead. I did have a busy morning with kickboxing, visiting "Great Oma" in her new nursing home, chasing DD at the park, then lunch at Siennas (shared a pizza and had the most amazing coffee (so had 2) and DD fed me her ilgelato choc chip icecream (YUMMMMMMM!))...but on my toes go go go...and now i need a nap.and i will or i just wont make it through the afternoon at all! How sad. Nanna Kylie is back!

Anyway, if you aren't already checking out all the amazing and inspiring blogs on here, here is one I suggest you follow. Not only because she is just like us...struggling with weight but doing everything in her power to put an end to that struggle (and being really successful!)...but she is also giving away some cool stuff! so check out Jess' blog...follow her and leave a comment! She doesn't bite! :)

http://jessisfound.blogspot.com/2010/06/giveaway.html

I don't have weigh in at the usual place on Monday. Will be going Tuesday instead to my alternative venue. Hope the extra day will give me a little extra time to work off the pizza, ilgelato and ferrerro rocheres...i might have to start exercising now and not stop until Tuesday night! LOL. Whatever it takes i say! :)

Netball - What a game!!! :)

I had the most absolute awesome game of netball tonight!
I used to be a very good player. then I did my knee, twice, operation, blah blah blah...was a fat cow on the court that was laughed at.

Now...whoa!
I got there late (i had weigh in) so I was off first. We were up by 1 point (5-4) at the first break. I normally play GA, but tonight, I put on the GD bib. The mums on the sideline (we played a really young team) were gushing over my passing! I kept hearing words like "strong", "perfect" and even... "when she gets the ball, it is straight into goals and they score".
A long way since getting laughed at!

At half time they were 5 points. in 1 quarter they scored 1 point.
Now I had an awesome game (did I mention that? LOL) but it was not JUST me that stopped them scoring. Now this will sound very big headed, but when I got on court, our whole team just lifted. We just had this oomph that we didn't have in the first quarter.

Third quarter I went into WA and i played well. Blitzed the WD, but I didn't play as well as I do normally in GA and certainly not the 2nd quarter. They scored 3 points in that quarter and although that isn't a lot, that quarter we just went flat.

so back to GD for the final quarter. Again they scored 1 point. I think the final score was 27 to 9.
Again, I had an awesome quarter in GD.
I am just so buzzed by how well I played. And, I am the girl who always sweats like a pig, red red face, legs, arms...and I stay red for hours!
Well, hardly a sweat! So not only did I play really well, I didn't even exert myself to my full extent!

So I am incredibly happy with my improving netball talent!!! :) Getting back to the old version of me! (but skinnier!)

On other news...I had breakfast yesterday with girls  I used to work with. Our last catch up was before Xmas.
I was late and they all said "Oh My God...it is skinny Kylie!"
They have never seen me under 95kg. So now...I probably am skinny to what they are used to! But they were so genuinely sincere and it was so lovely to hear! Skinny and Kylie have never been two words that went together in the same sentence...and to hear them yesterday...oh i loved the way it sounded! :)

I had dinner at MILs place, again Chinese. This is after my parents were up for 2 BBQs, breakfast and then Chinese. I had a great week, stuck to points...(JESS NO CHEATING EITHER!) But my waist circumference was still high.
So I knew that my WI would result in a gain. BBQs I was good. I only had one wine with my parents. Breakfast I made the best choice, and had a really light lunch to make up for the large breakfast points. Chinese...well, hard to pick points for takeaway Chinese. I had plain white rice, not fried rice, and I only had a little bit of the honey chicken, but lots of the clay pot type stuff (i am sure they are healthier!).

so today I jumped on my Wii to see what Wii had to say about my weight before weigh in. The Wii is the closest thing to scales I have. It showed I was under 85...but it is the Wii. After a 20 minute balance "workout" the Wii told me I had lost 1.9kg! LOL. so i don't put a lot of faith in the Wii!

Anyway, very nervous at weigh in. I have had gain, loss, gain, loss, gain....and I LOST! 1.2kg.
But no rejoicing yet.
I need to get a loss 2 weeks in a row. I need to see that I am not just gaining, and then working hard to make up for it. I need to make this my life. This week was hard but easy. Hard to make sure I NEVER cheated, but easy because I never went hungry and I still had some indulgences.

I also remembered that I was due for my period and that could explain my waist. I skip my sugar pills often (Dr has said ok!) so I don't have my period each month. I have gone probably 2 1/2 months without so I am more then sure that that affected my belly this week with a bit of bloating. so naturally I have taken the sugar pills to bring it on...and hopefully that will bring the waist measurement under 90cm. And I just need to have my period!

So all going well! Now I just have to get some planning done. what will I teach tomorrow? Oh I am so badly organised!
